but do any of these roads make your dash light up like a Christmas tree.. Galstom makes mine go nuts, stability and traction control don't like Hair pin vertical turns for some reason

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Golf R Observations and Questions

Just had a bash in the Golf R in GT5, they've done a pretty good job. I initially got caught out by how quick the brakes grab (but that's good for late braking to gain position), and the steering can be a bit twitchy at times, but never had problems with understeer. I kept the car mostly stock, besides the obligatory sports upgrades for ECU, Exhaust, and tyres.
After first trying the Scirocco R (engine doesn't sound as good), the Golf R felt so high compared to all the other sports cars. If you've got the game and a good racing wheel (i.e. DFGT, G25, G27, Fanatec, or T500RS) then allow me to recommend the $6 DLC pack.
I would try and film a replay but I don't have any HD capture hardware - might get a 720i one in a few days or something.

Same here. Unfortunately i cant turn the traction control off (11.5 model) but the ESP goes off any time im going to have some fun - i dont want the electronics killing the fun.

5.5 seconds is a good time for 0-100kph. I have only tried twice and got 5.8 both times - but thats a manual Golf R + tune. DSG's will always be faster from 0-100kph. The real killer for the manuals is that you need to shift to 3rd gear to pass 100kph, as 2nd gear only goes to about 97-98kph.

For what it's worth had a chance to try my P2 guage with launch control and 0-100 on a 100Kph highway yesterday, 5.5sec with 32 degree ambient temp! Stock with 20,000kms on the clock, it also sounds much throatier now too.

Does anyone read German ?
Just curious what the sticker says. I assume it is something like "this **** gets hot". You should be able to zoom in on the sticker to see the text

Never mind. Someone on another forum suggested Google translate
Engine date I assume of 13 May 2011 at 9.56 am ? Car build date completion was late June 2011 so seems about right.
Edit - sort of makes sense and as expected, of no value
Attention ! For all audit and adjustments

They can do that? I presume it's NSW only.
Is it permanent or just for the holiday break?

Hey all,
its been ages since I was on this site. Anyway still loving my UG 2010 Golf R. Had it since late Jan and its clocked up about 20,000k's without any major dramas *touch wood* apart from stuffing a set of front tyres on a massive 6 foot or so wide pothole that the bloody council left after doing some roadworks.
Today was one minor drama. My 4 yr old nephew was in the middle of back seat with my daughters on the way to the beach and he decides to put down the rear cup holder and practice his football skills on it. Anyway the door to the holder snapped out and broke off the little catch that holds one side in. Needless to say I was pissed, but what can ya do lol. Luckily I managed to find the small bit that was broken off and super glue it back on when I got home. It was bent on the join in the plastic so its still kinda wonky but hopefully its enough to hold it in place. . Add to that I caught him swinging on the rear door handle and about to pull down on the rear wiper as well. I needed the patience of a saint today I swear. Ah kids ya gotta love em o_O. LOL!
Anway it might seem minor but to us fans who LOVE our cars its enough to make ya cry sometimes!)
