  • My car was on the same ship as well and I am picking up mine on Tuesday afternoon.
Seems that Klink's car as well as mine were dispatched on the same day probably.
I had my SAT NAV "removed" by someone between the docks and Patricks but no real damage was done by the "thief" and now remedied with new sat nav fitted. The dealer has made good on some compensation.
On tuesday it will be almost 10 months wait for me as well. They told me that cars that are sold already have 'priority' so I dont know why the long discrepancy in time between our cars.
Really looking forward to driving it away and trying out all the tech!

PS anyone know if I should do anything special to the car as I have to leave it for a month without it being driven. I know disconnecting the battery can activate security on the Stereo and I may need a pin... any ideas.
PPS the recaros are amazing, had them in my Evo 9 and really loved them too.
The colour is fantastic..agree whole heartedly with you silverfox!

oh yeah and brace yourself for the long walkthrough at the dealership, took them half an hour to go through the entire config..

    • Just spent the last 8 hours detailing it.. I could not belive how much crud is on the paintwork. The trip over on the boat seems to have collected a heap of dirt the clay I used was rank with grime. I had to use a polish with a greater cut compound than I thought to get all the clay micro scratches out. anyway after sealer and 2 coats of wax she is amazing.. and I got sot heat retardant wax for the wheels which should reduce the insane brake dust.. get ready for that little pain.

        • I will put them up tomorrow if the weather permits, it is dark and raining here and the car is in the garage. The daylight and if possible sun light will be all the difference

Leaving it a month without driving should do nothing to it.
It has just sat on a boat and docks for probably 8 weeks and should have started first go.
I have left my 13yo car 2 months in the garage and come home and it starts as if I drove it the day before.

Any pictures? I'm sure it looks amazing after 8 hours detailing. Sorry left the thread open for a while before I posted. I see you've already answered the question.

              • Hi everyone! I'm new to the who VW thing, and I'm getting addicted to it before I even received my car..

I placed my order at the start of the month for a Candy White Golf GTD with Bi-Xenon, Daytime LED driving lights, Dark Tint Rear Windows & Roof Racks. Pretty basic options, it's expected around mid September, but I don't really like waiting for it, especially as I work for a VW dealership.

The first thing I think I will get is Golf R LED tail lights, APR Carbon Fiber Cold Air Intake, a tune (APR Stage 1 or Bluefin?) & maybe a DPF Delete pipe, not sure about that just as yet though.

Except the car is put into transport mode before it leaves the factory which means most of the car is powered off and it uses minimal power on it's journey. So you can't compare the two.

Did that car have systems running all the time including possibly monitoring for rain and so forth?

                        Your options are

Leave the car locked but if the battery does drain you will have to smash a window to get into the car (or have it towed to a dealer).
Leave the car with the doors unlocked if in a secure garage but the battery connected.
Leave the car with the doors locked in a secure garage but the battery connected and the bonnet popped.
Buy a ctek charger and have this connected for the period you're away with the bonnet closed and the doors locked.
Buy a ctek battery connector pack (around $25) and connect this to the terminals and have this in a location you can get to it like the passenger side wheel arch, if the battery is flat you can connect another battery to this for starting or a ctek charger.

The battery should last until you get back but be aware that if a module doesn't enter power save mode or there is a problem with coding or even a faulty module in your car that it may drain the battery. As you have only had the car a few days you won't know of any of these problems before you go away. I'd go down the ctek charger path if I were you, do a search on this forum as Transporter etc have written a fair bit about them and they're only around $150 for a good charger that will last you for years.
