Damn straight.. hang in there, that was the advice from everyone here when I was at your stage.. this forum will keep your interest and passion. Don't believe everything you hear there is a lot of noise around the small things and if no one told you you wouldn't know or care.

Hey Will, havn't seen you about , glad you popped in..

No stage 1 for me just now.. I am happy with how it behaves, as i said to others i enjoy the whisper to a scream power delivery as the turbo surges. I sort of want to let it all bed in and see how it goes after 5 - 7 K.

But yeah it is a right hoot to drive, can't help but smile everytime you have a play...

Has anyone else had their R orders delayed at all?

I ordered an R in Mar/Apr with a noted delivery expected in September (my current ride is due back on lease end August). Becuase of a bit of stuffing about with the order the delivery date was pushed back to Sept/Oct.
About a 3 weeks ago I got an update saying it was back scheduled for delivery in September (so far so good).
On Friday I spoke with the dealer (the sales rep has left of course!) and they said January 2012 delivery !!!!

*Shock*

they're trying to see what can be done; but they've told me it may be becuase VW is short on some parts or some such and they're delaying builds accordingly.

Is this rot or possibly true; if it's true I'd imagine most/all R's due for delivery would be delayed later this year (and it isn't just me) - or am I being fed a pack?

Should I just buy off the lot from another VW dealer (I've looked and there are some similar spec'd R's at other dealers in other states - not sure the process of how it works ordering between states - anyone experienced this?)

Yep I had mine pushed back, ordered late March and the system was initially saying September but that has now moved to November. Not fussed though as that means it is now an MY12 spec and I get the free bluetooth & MDI

Just took delivery of my new R last week! Having been driving a MY07 MKV GTI for 4years with Bluefin, it was an easy & mandatory upgrade.

I got my VIN and it is meant to be at checkpoint 8 and check point date was 11/05

Hey mate. MY checkpoint 8 was May 17th and apparently the car is at the port.......Looks like its a waiting game till a boat can get them on, Rob R's car is also at the port waiting....So that makes three of us.

I think someone told me it can take a week after the boat loads till the tracking starts..............so we wait........

Checkpoint 8 only means a VIN has been allocated. The car then needs to be manufactured, transported to the port (by train usually), and then it waits for the next ship, and then it's loaded on the ship. It can easily take 3 weeks from checkpoint 8 to appear on a ship... so don't stress yet
