Hey mate, I've ordered a similar spec R. In Melb too, I ordered start of October and got quoted an ETA of March-April, however I got the call 3 weeks ago to tell me that the car won't be here till June.

That sounds like a good deal, nigh impossible even. Theres only one dealer I went to in Melbourne who told me that my car would be here in 4 months and that was Bayford. Did you order off them or did you get a car that already had a production slot (even though I hear that they are not supposed to be doing this anymore).

I ordered in Mid November and got an estimate of May as well from Camberwell VW. I haven't heard anything from the dealer since November. Where did everyone order their Rs from?

I went for the carbon Steele with sunroof, ACC, 18" wheels, leather, MDI, RVC, dynaudio and park assist. The dealer said I'm looking to mid 2011 for delivery.
I am very concerned after reading earlier posts, that the car won't be as I ordered. The dealer seemed very confused and couldn't give me a straight answer about anything. I guess I will just have to wait and see.
How do I pass the time. ?

Check the "How to track" thread then and ask for NADCON screen shots of your build data. That way you can confirm the correct car and options have been requested....

When do the VIN numbers become available? Only after the car is built? Or can the dealer get it after the order has been processed?

Hi watercoolers,

Have had my R for three weeks now - its a great bit of gear. Silver paint, 18" silver wheels, dsg, dcc, dsg, nav, mdi, leather, Bluetooth, 5 door. Only 800 km so far so I'm still babying it. Engine note is great. DSG is brilliant and definitely better than in mkv's I've driven. I don't think the amount of lag is much to talk about, and there is plenty of power for me. DCC is definitely worth it, noticeably changes the dynamics of the car.

It seems well screwed together and is the ultimate Q car.

The only thing I would change is make 6th gear a bit taller for freeway cruising, and that is being picky.

Having said all that, there is no way I'm ever going to wait this long for a car again - I'm too impatient and VW need to sort these ridiculously long waits in IMHO.

Could be 3 months from when you place the order, the more informed can correct but I belive it is when the car is going into production

Silverfoxx is basically correct in what he's saying, timeframes can vary depending on when your car is booked in for production but you won't get you Vin # until the car has been built.

Believe dealer gets advised of the VIN on the 3rd day of production/build process - give or take a day.
