The official I have ordered/received my new MKVI thread
Have had my R for three weeks now - its a great bit of gear. Silver paint, 18" silver wheels, dsg, dcc, dsg, nav, mdi, leather, Bluetooth, 5 door. Only 800 km so far so I'm still babying it. Engine note is great. DSG is brilliant and definitely better than in mkv's I've driven. I don't think the amount of lag is much to talk about, and there is plenty of power for me. DCC is definitely worth it, noticeably changes the dynamics of the car.
It seems well screwed together and is the ultimate Q car.
The only thing I would change is make 6th gear a bit taller for freeway cruising, and that is being picky.
Having said all that, there is no way I'm ever going to wait this long for a car again - I'm too impatient and VW need to sort these ridiculously long waits in IMHO.
Cheers

Sounds like another satisfied R owner hehe. Nice mate. So hanging for word of when I can pick mine up! Cmooooon! DDTW should have his R now. I wonder what his thoughts are
THE BEAST: "2015 Lapiz Blue Wolfsburg Golf R wagon"
It looks great man. You just have to remove the rego sticker from the windscreen and put it on the left rear passenger window, as close to the B Pillar and bottom as possible. Looks much less obtrusive/noticable there!

Thanks buddy, have moved the sticker as per your directions and looks heaps better
My R landed at Port Kembla today...two/three weeks and I'll be in it!
hmmm....not actually "my" R though. Mine was ordered in August and apparently expected Delivery in May/June. I just got lucky with a same-spec cancellation and grabbed it...
Spoke to a VW dealer at a new years party (so - off the record). He says expect 10 months from order for the R. That is exactly what mine ended up as (even though my order was originally quoted as January delivery - 5 months)
He recons any earlier than 10 months at the moment and you are just lucky with the order and dealer allocations, etc...
What is worrying is that I was told by the dealer in mid Novemer that the car had a build-start date of December 10. Only three weeks later I was told of the huge delay.
Whether its the dealer's fault or VW's processes...something aint right with the system.
Anyway, looking forward to the wheels in three weeks! Sydney to Melbourne road trip via the snowies planned in four weeks!

I had a very similar situation, ordered in August for a Jan delivery - then pushed to May/June. Found a similar car a couple of weeks ago already on board the Tristan so I snapped it up!

happy to report my 11 plated GTI (which arrived at Fremantle port on the 17th Dec aboard the Aida) is ready to be picked up on Friday the 14th Dec, 4weeks to the day not to bad.
Now I just have to organize the VCDS tweaks I want as my dealer seems to be clueless, looks like I will be heading down to Quattro Motors over the weekend. May even consider ordering the cable and software as they seem to be fairly sparse over here in the West.
