Hey SilvrfoxX, congrats mate. Is your face hurting from the permanent smile on your face. lol. You lucky son of a b.......
Damn straight.. hang in there, that was the advice from everyone here when I was at your stage.. this forum will keep your interest and passion. Don't believe everything you hear there is a lot of noise around the small things and if no one told you you wouldn't know or care.
The car is the best fun you can have with your clothes on, without baby oil and a game of twister

The hardest wait is when you find out it has been off loaded ad the docks and it goes into a black hole for 3 weeks.. steel yourself for that
Yeh I have read many people finding the last few weeks as the worst. I must admit though that from Jan to now has flown. Worst part of the wait is the wife constantly bringing up the fact that she can't believe I bought a car and have to wait so long for it. She loves the stir. Everytime we drive past a car dealer she picks out a car and says..."nice car that one...'pause'...it will be probably be delivered in 2 weeks". Whilst funny the first couple of times she now knows it grates me. lol. I love the support!!!

Well looking at your spec you are going to be happy ( so is the missus) the colour is just so good I can't get my wife away from it.. she constantly texts me about eating unsuspecting road warriors.. trust me after the car hits your driveway the missus will be VERY supportive

Has anyone else had their R orders delayed at all?
I ordered an R in Mar/Apr with a noted delivery expected in September (my current ride is due back on lease end August). Becuase of a bit of stuffing about with the order the delivery date was pushed back to Sept/Oct.
About a 3 weeks ago I got an update saying it was back scheduled for delivery in September (so far so good).
On Friday I spoke with the dealer (the sales rep has left of course!) and they said January 2012 delivery !!!!
*Shock*
they're trying to see what can be done; but they've told me it may be becuase VW is short on some parts or some such and they're delaying builds accordingly.
Is this rot or possibly true; if it's true I'd imagine most/all R's due for delivery would be delayed later this year (and it isn't just me) - or am I being fed a pack?
Should I just buy off the lot from another VW dealer (I've looked and there are some similar spec'd R's at other dealers in other states - not sure the process of how it works ordering between states - anyone experienced this?)
It doesn't really sound like any delay. The guys who are having their R's delivered right now, have been waiting 9 months. So for you to have ordered in April and be receiving 5 months later in September was, shall we say "overly optimistic" of your dealer.

Cheers!
If you ordered your car with RVC (Rear View Camera), it's very likely it will get delayed! VW has been sourcing RVCs from Japan and after the recent natural disaster, the supply of RVC from Japan has either stopped or slowed down!
If you want to order from interstate, lets say NSW, you will not be charged Stamp duty and Rego. You will have to pay this in your own state.

DSG, Carbon Steel, Bi-xenon, 18inch Detroit, ACC, Sunroof, RVC, Leather, Dynaudio & Window tint. GOT IT
When I went to pick up my car last Thursday the business Manager was saying that VW are expecting delays, the fallout from the GFC impacted a lot of parts companies that supplied to them, and just when they were getting a handle on it Japan has been hit. So as Corey said most of us getting our cars now have been waiting 9 months so it is not surprising.

I ordered mine also late March and was told it would be an early September delivery. I also optioned mine with the RVC. Having said that,my car is now off the production line and I've been given my VIN number. Would I also fall into that 9 month wait? There's no way...is there??

If it's off the production line, then you'll wait for the car to be loaded onto a ship to get here!

Although I understand many have waited for 9 months or so; I really think that the dealer here has either A) stuffed up my order and somehow fumbled it or B) there is some genuine parts delay.
Having said that if B) were true I would expect to see almost every Golf R (and possibly all Golf models and more) orders delayed across the board (like an airport in bad weather!) - seems only me is affected.
I'm just gutted a bit by the experience; had some issues with this dealer already (sales rep leaving and lack of communications; I didn't even negotiate as hard as I wanted to on price - because they "held" a place in their order system for my build - apparently on an allocation of cars that they had already been given by VW).
I've asked them to try and remedy - there a few items I've requested; if they come good I'll probably just let it go and wait; else I'm seriously thinking about buying elsewhere. (there seem to be a number of dealers with in-stock R's that are well optioned).
hmm not sure how to take that, i ordered my GTI in March and was told to expect August/September delivery, however I'm now due to pick the car up sometime in July!
edit: i did ask my dealer the lead times on the R and he told me it was still about 9 months if factory order (this was in March).
