On the 13th of this month I joined this forum after spending many weeks reading the R threads and I said

Been reading the forum for a while now. Will probably order a black R in the next month or 2.
Was originally attracted to the R due to it having the same power to weight ratio as my 5l VT SS but will certainly go for a tune and exhaust.
All the other good bits are a bonus

On the 17th of this month I have put a deposit on a Candy White DSG Golf R with adaptive chassis, Bluetooth, 19” Black Talledega alloy wheels, rear view camera and satellite navigation system.

I have decided that you guys are a bad influence on this old codger

I picked up my car yesterday!

I am so impressed with the fit and finish of the car... not a rattle or misaligned panel anywhere (yet!). The performance, right out of the box is fantastic, especially knowing it should improve once the engine beds itself in. The Adaptive Chassis is worth every cent...

I'm looking forward to putting some kms under the tyres and getting to know her!

Well finally picked up the R on Thursday, should have been Wednesday but they couldn't get the sat nav working, so exactly 10 months 3 days from ordering. Expected delivery was mid Jan so 5 months late. O well.

On pick up noticed that the reversing camera wasn't working. Took the car anyway as the leasing company had already paid the dealer so in effect my leasing payments had commenced, plus was sick of driving around in a 30 yr old Commode.

Also there was a scrape under the front bumper. Can't see it from the front when looking at the car, only if you get down on your hands and knees and lookup. Dealer was willing to fix it but i negotiated a boot liner instead. My reasoning on this......I will only end up scraping it myself and as long as you can't see it who cares. The boot liner will protect the part of the car that can be seen by any one who opens the hatch.

Noticed on the weekend that the satnav instructions don't come up on the mdf display either.

Anyway, window tint tomorrow, RVC camera fix and satnav instructions fixed on Wednesday and all should be well.

Not really. First choice was another black car -last 3 were/are black- but looking at some black Rs convinced me that a white one looks slightly better.
Big plus was that I can have it this week and not wait 6 or 8 months
