Actually got it from the VW dealer in GC. I think they still got two GTIs in store.

Collected the carbon steel GTI today , better than i ever expected , fantastic seats , and that sound , shut down the music .

My ear was cocked for the RATTLE , and the WHISTLE , but nothing at this stage .

I understand why you all love your cars .

How does it compare to the Octy? I get my GTI in 3 days and that's the one thing I can't wait for is to compare exactly the same drivetrain in 2 different cars. You know, I bought this GTI over the phone. I've never driven one. I've had a Clio Sport and an R32 and for some reason I think this car will sit right in the middle of those 2. Sounds like I'll enjoy based on your brief summation.

Hi doc My RS was apr stage 1 , but the GTI is pretty close in std form performance wise , the torque is down a bit, but so is the weight 100kilos, so you would find it much quicker .

It is much quieter , no drumming from the back , no under steer at all , always had a tad on the RS , feels much more glued to the road , firmer suspension , better in the fast corners , motor feels more free reving and responsive .

Seats are much more grippy , hold you in beautifully , i missed out on leather , but hell these seats are so good its no loss .

Definately a more refined car , higher quality materials than skoda , you can see where skoda cuts corners .

However for the price the skoda rs is a damn good car for the money , and no one should feel let down by picking it over a gti , if you need a wagon its a logical choice .

You will have a wide grin on friday .

Would you recommend the apr stage 1 for the Octy? Front traction is already a bit suss.

I love the the tartan thought it might be loud but its quite dark .

The traction is a problem if you want to do traffic light fights , i got it for country driving effortless torque with economy .

I dont know how the DSG would cope , but the same box is used on the diesel so it should be ok .

Does make driving very lazy , missing gears and just pushing on even in 6th effortlessly .

As this is the Official MkVI Ordered/Received thread, I feel compelled to post here. I ordered a new Golf R from South Yarra VW a couple of weeks back and have been told to expect delivery in November. Vehicle in question is a Black 5Dr manual with pretty much everything except the motorsport seats and the rear camera.

November will simply not come fast enough…

Did VW not get the Y2K bug fix?

I assume there's a rolling counter and the year 2011 is somehow misinterpreted as 1981?

The online decoder is incorrect, B = 2011 now. It used to mean 1981.

Where are most people getting their cars from... my car came out of Wolfsburg, but it seems that a lot of people's cars are coming out of Mosel. Any points of Difference/Quality?
