Newbie here, finding it weird how I get excited everytime I read here that someone has received there pride and joy. What am I going to be like when I receive mine. A couple of weeks ago I was told that mine has been earmarked for week 20 or 22 build. Not sure if this has changed since but here's hoping. May contact dealer soon for any possible updates.

I think we all knew that was coming! And I'm glad you got in before the cut off period for ordering a 3DR...so much nicer than the 5DR IMO. Anyway, congrats on the order and nice choice of colour. United Grey on black wheels was my second choice, but I just couldn't say no to CW.

Got the call yesterday telling me my GTI had reached pre-delivery and the soonest I can pick it up would be Friday afternoon, if I was available... I of course said yes, I was

Not totally in the clear until I'm behind the wheel, but all in all I'm pretty happy with my first experience buying a new VW:

• GTI Ordered (DSG, Candy White, 3 doors, Detroits, MDI, Xenons) - 29/11/10
• Added sunroof to the order - 01/12/10
• Provided with date at which it was going into production (week 4 2011) - 16/12/10
• Was informed it had come off the production line and was awaiting transportation - 07/02/11
• Provided with expected docking date (1st of April, lol) in Brisbane - 28/02/11
• Boheme actually docks in Brisbane - 27/03/11
• Had X-Pack protection removed from order - 29/03/11
• GTI ready to be picked up - 08/04/11

I reckon I did alright with a wait of just over 4 months, and fingers crossed everything is in order when I go to pick it up! Pretty happy with customs though - 9 days is a lot better than what I was expecting. Will try to post pics tomorrow sometime once I get home from a loooong drive

Just got an update on the delivery on my Golf R...

So when I spoke to the dealer a few weeks ago and they updated me that my car was due to arrive in Brisbane around the 21st of this month (April), seems that was mixed up with another order. I thought they'd got my order advanced as the original was ordered in black and not candy white (I know, pretty major mistake, but partially my fault), but seems it was not to be.

Long story short, update was wrong. Car actually due in August.

If this could be summed up in a mathematical equation it would be; add frowny-face, subtract excitement and multiply by imminent arrival of more waiting.

Time to change my sig again...
