Just a quick question, Does R have automatic side mirror turning in facility when it is switched off? (still searching the manual)

As per SilvrFoxX, that feature isn't currently available for Golfs delivered in Australia. (The manual does make reference to it, as the feature is available in some overseas markets.)

The passenger mirror can auto-dip when reverse is selected, but only if Park Assist is optioned.

Interesting to read about everyones passion to get in their vehicle! I myself have been driving a bomb around for the past 10yrs and have been happy to spend my money property, but recently a mate pranged into the side of my car and instead of going through the insurance process he just said he'd buy it off me.

Anyway....to cut a long story short I thought it was about time I bought a decent car, and not being a massive car enthusiast a mate recommend a Golf. So I called every dealership in QLD, SA, and WA and ended up finding what I was after:

Black Golf R - Leather, DSG, MDI, ACC, BlueTooth, 19" Talladega's

I understand everyone wants specific features, but there's plenty out there. I've been looking for about a week and will have a car on a truck tomorrow. So my question is, why do people want to wait 6 months their car to arrive?

Looking forward to using this site more and learning more about cars and the people that love them!

Well, I waited because I am a car enthusiast and the amount I was going to spend took longer than 6 months to save up for, and I'd own the car for several years, and I wanted it to be exactly what I wanted.
You didn't mention whether you got a 5dr or 3dr - but I purchase a 3 door, and at the time, there was no a single car in the country with my spec. Thus far I haven't come across anyone who's said they've ordered the same thing yet...

Obviously no one wants to wait if they don't have to 4-6 months wait is easy if it saves you 10K (10K worth of features you don't want/need - it adds up pretty quickly when the options and accessories)

Did you end up getting it from WA. I've been visiting a few VW dealers around here over the last couple of weeks and have seen a number of Black Golf R's sitting for sale in the yards.

Hey I dont have park assist (Im not sure you can get it on an R?) and my mirror dips.

I think you just need it in reverse and flick the mirror selector.

On a side note, do our mirrors actually heat? Friggin pretty cool but not sure when Id use it as they dont seem to get foggy to often..

Im pretty sure he meant HE'S not a massive car enthusiast, his mate is, and his mate recommended the GOLF.

Or he just meant that owning a Golf does not involve any car enthusiasm hahahahaha

I have cancelled my GTD order, it was ordered in Dec and I have been informed that November would be the most likely delivery date.

But not all is lost..... I have a Candy White GTI ordered, it is on water and should be mine late next month!!

Not actually tried it here, but on the Golf I had in the UK this was a godsend - saved scraping the ice off the mirrors! You're right though, not so much of a need for that here, although maybe in Hobart....

And Gee whiz November.. thats just too long man... The wait times are getting crazy. Even next month you will have been waiting for 5 months and that is just about long enough i reckon!
