I think you will be pushing it a bit to get it before you leave. I was lucky with how quick mine turned up, cause the dealer still has cars waiting to go through ADR that were on the same ship as mine. Fingers crossed you do.

I got to check over my car at the dealers tonight. They sure don't look anything special when they come off the boat, plastic and tape everywhere. One very dirty white Golf! Good news was there was no transport damage! They actually had the laptop hooked into the ECU and where downloading the new flash. I'm very happy about that. All I need to do now is sell my Carolla and I can get it.

You guys are lucky, ive had to chase my dealer a fair bit regarding delivery of my GTI. ship docked in Brissy on Saturday and he till says I will only get my car in june. Is Brisbane port customs pretty busy or is it just luck if your car gets through quickly?

The consensus seems to be allow 3 weeks from the time it docks to the time you pick it up. 2 weeks for customs clearance, and 1 week to get it sorted by the dealer.

The on ramp at Forster Rd, heading towards the city....I think it was Tues morning maybe about 9:45am. It was very clean, looked and sounded great

Bit late for me, im usually on there between 8.30 and 9 heading from the city to dandeneong. and the reverse about 5-6pm

IIRC, you ordered the Lakin plates for your GTI - is that what I can see covering the stock lugs on the numberplate bracket there? How does it look in the flesh? Any chance of any side-profile shots? Did you get a rear plate as well? And did your dealer fit the plates for you, or was it a DIY?

It looks awesome - was a bit worried about what the corn leather would look like but its awesome - I'm so happy with it.
Dealer handover all went well - considering getting the extended warranty.

I'll post my story about the plate brackets in the Best Number Plate Style thread when I get a chance to take some close up pics.
In short, the dealer fitted the rear plate, then I bought the GTI home and fitted the front & rear brackets etc. The rear bracket is perfect, but the front takes some stuffing around to get it right. I had to bend it a bit to get it to shape with the original plate bracket and I'm not all that happy with it.
Anyway, i'll post a detailed "story" soon (it's too nice of a day here in Sydney for the GTI to be sitting in the garage )
