The official I have ordered/received my new MKVI thread
Hi all!
Ordered a Golf R on the 26/11/2010 (Wippels VW), was informed that it would be arriving late March, I'm hoping this is not being too optimistic. Have any of you been given a similar delivery time ?

I know - but the car wasn't perfect when I got it (scratches on wheels, etc), shields are not the cheapest, and I'm planning to hang onto this car for a while, so it's not the end of the world.
I was watching the thrid episode of TopGear USA yesterday and one of the 'cheap-car-challenge' vehicles had a 'car-bra' - this showed a very noticeable colour difference between the nose of the car and the rest of it. Of course, the car would've been aroun 20 years old, but would most of the protections on offer these days end up similarly?
Maybe I should take some photos of my bonnet in case there are any others thinking they don't need to spend the extra money on protection

Nah, the old car bras were a leather or vinyl etc, mostly black.
3M PPF and Ventureshield stonegard are designed to be UV transparent, so paint discolours evenly between the uncovered and covered areas. So then it's up to you to protect the car from discolouring using waxes etc. Just make sure to not use yellow or dyed waxes which could discolour the film.
Yep... just needs to do something about that numberplate and plate holder!
Yeah you are right Corey, just gotta find the right combo! Just stoked to finally have the car. Done 50k's in it so far today and whilst it's still tight, it's simply just a great ride, so well appointed and comfortable.
2011 Golf R MKVI | Candy White | 5 door | DSG | ACC | 19" Black rims | Vienna Leather Electric | RNS510 | Dynaudio | MY11 Bluetooth | Sunroof | Stage 1 APR Tune | On the road again...
I signed the contract and put money down today for my R. The dealer said a June/July delivery, but the contract says Aug/Sep just incase it's late. Either way I'm not too bothered...the longer the R takes to arrive, the longer I have with the 200SX before I have to depart with it (and I love my 200SX).
I had originally decided on white, but then today when it came to the crunch, I was undecided between the white with black wheels, or the blue with black wheels.
Coming into this thread now, and seeing pics of BezzyR's car... I'm glad I stuck with the white on black config.
