The official I have ordered/received my new MKVI thread
I now feel complete, the nifty welcome pack arrived today in the mail.
Even niftier than the one I got with our GTI.
Changed the R's BT name to suit my nickname - all set to go.
Hi there Candyman....
Remember the good old days of Forrie XT'S??? Then we moved on to MKV Golf GTI's...... lol..... And I see you have now gone one further to a white MKVI R Car... Beautiful car..... This is getting weird because I will be picking up a white MKVI GTI in a couple of weeks.... This one will have a bit on it and more than likely will be our last one... Can't wait... And I want to hear about the R car as I was originally looking at a silver one but got a better deal with the goodies on the GTI. By the way, I had the MKV GTI tuned by Paul - remember him??.. He bought a GTI for his wife, tuned it and it flew... My MKV went like the wind after he massaged it.. Anyway, getting off the topic here... MKVI GTI just around the corner.....
I missed AWD too much so the R was the perfect choice
Enjoy that GTI, optioned to the hilt
Talk again soon I hope
W
AWD is definitely a winner and from what I have read the R Car is a very splendid example of what it can do. I am absolutely positive you will love it - but I am preaching to the converted there I'm looking forward to the GTI as well - full of fruit - I must be getting ooolllddd!!!!! Talk again later mate.... Oh - I can't help a dig in the ribs here - that black Forrie of yours was spectacular - I still remember the pic of the bonnet with the clouds reflected in it.... but you have come over to the white side now mate - these cars really do look the bees knees in white.. ENJOY!!
Nice options. I wanted ACC but didn't want to wait another 6 months and must admit, not having it has not been an issue. Rides better than our GTI
It is funny how we both went from XTs to GTIs and then VW again
I couldn't go back to Subie after VW. Still, I do miss the adaptability of the Fozz.
I am hoping it will arrive in NSW sometime next week - its coming from a dealership in Melbourne. I didn't really want the Sat/Nav thing or the Park Assist but the only white GTI left in Australia that satisfied my other requirements had those options in it. So, we bought that one... The guy who I bought the car from has been a long time friend / car salesman - this is our 8th car from him - we first met him in the Subaru dealership here. He moved to VW and when we started looking around we checked out the first GTI from the dealership he was managing. Long story, but we get great service and if and when something ever goes wrong he has the punch to make things happen very quickly. I am as sure as I can be that this will be our last (new) car so we are hoping it will be a super replacement for the current GTI - everything I have read indicates that will be the case... My son Peter (Magus) said to say hi! He has our old white Foz and it is probably more STI than XT now... It truly is a weapon... Take it easy mate!! Oh, go Manly... lol....
I read the "running in a diesel" advice that I found here, and trying to follow it with the DSG - interesting! Left in auto mode, it changes out of first very quickly; if I try in manual mode, it sometimes delays the upchange to 2nd - it's gone past the 3800 "running in" rev limit a few times.
Loved the run up the freeway last night (even if it was a reduced speed limit for wet weather), and came home the long way through the hills. I'm loving the torque that it has.
Now I've got a long weekend of "running in" to do.
Rang to VWA about my R's status just now, still no luck here. The lady found my order still wait for produce so no VIN number even build week can given. Sign, it seems I can't receive it in time around this Nov even Dec.
