Well finally got myself sorted this week. Went out Monday after having previously done a bit of a shop around and bought a new Golf R. There was a slightly interesting spin though.... I actually prefer the 3 doors to the 5 doors (looks a little less "mumsie" to me) and if they had a bit more practicality would have gone with a Scirocco however managed to snag what may be one of the last
MY11 3 doors (if not the last) in Silver with roof & DSG ! Pick it up tomorrow.
Got a deal I was absolutely wrapped with - got a better trade in than others had offered and an absolute motza off the cars retail (though that is partly indicative of the age of the car). I was dealing with the GM so the service was brilliant (though it turned out that I knew two of the sales staff from a long time ago) and I'd have no hesitation in recommending this dealership to anyone in Brisbane (not sure if I can give them a plug here ?) so pm me if you need a referal and looking currently.
Can't wait till tomorrow and I join the R fraternity !
Now to the planned list of mods starting with wheels and a tune.....Comment

I finally took delivery of my Tornado Red Golf R last Wed and the car's every bit as good as I remember. I was worried I might not like Tornado Red as much as my previous CW R but am loving the colour. My first VW - 90TSI Trendline
Woohoo. Have put deposit today for a 90TSI today. Extras include united grey metallic, sunroof and park assist.
Only when I got home I realised that there are some things I forgot to ask the dealer, such as paint & internal protection as well as tinting.
Am I better of getting the dealer to include those or after market?
If off market, got any recommendations on who to go to in Sydney for Golfs?
Any inputs on what to get for a newbie is much appreciated

To answer your question, I HIGHLY recommend going after market with the paint protection and tint. You will save money and get better quality in both the product and labour.

For paint protection I'd contact David from Reflect Effect, he's a good guy to deal with. Very professional.

+1, the VW Paint protection is a bit of a rip off
You might also search for some of the options/accessories that you didn't tick on eBay, as you'll find a lot of them a lot cheaper (i.e. RNS510, 9W7 Bluetooth, MDI, sports steering wheel, etc)Comment

Not sure about options either. When I bought mine the only option was comfort pack or not, manual or DSG. I don't even think the sound system was an option....might be wrong.2010 90TSI Manual / Comfort Pack / United Grey
