FINALLY received my R today after waiting patiently for 8 months! 'Wow' says it all.

Can't wait for it to get Opti-coated this Sunday by Mark at freedomcarcare and have the layers of contaminant and dealer applied crap off the paintwork. Disappointingly the right reverse light doesn't work - didn't check it in all the excitement at the dealership....

It only has one reverse light my friend... don't embarrass yourself by taking it back

I think I have already embarassed myself by mentioning it in an open forum! Is did a VW/ European thing?

Pretty much, I think the American version is different and it's not too difficult to change it with an oversees part and some wiring (consult the ADRs first).

Congrats mate, I haven't been following this thread, however what colour did you get?

Also had Mark apply my Opticoat 18 months ago and it still looks awesome, you won't be dissapointed!

If you're interested in going for a drive so soon after getting your R, there are a couple of cruises/GTG (Get togethers) occuring on the 27th, one with VWWatercooled and the other with VWgolf.net.au have a look in the Club meets, events forum

Mark sure does know his stuff, really nice bloke over the phone. Haven't decided on 2 or 3 coats though, what did you get? Figure the extra coat doesn't add much to the cost so might as well.

I think from memory 2 coats, was about $600 all up.

you do know the right reversing light is a "dummy" light... none of the R's have 2 reversing lights... I believe it acts as a fog light instead..

My Brother recentely updated his Golf 5 with a Golf 6 118TSi, I found it on carsales, the previous owner was going overseas, so we got for a great price, I had a small drive, feels like a bigger Polo, excellent car.
