Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 if you want the best all-round street tyre, if not on a tight budget. Michelin Pilot Sport 3 if you are on a tighter budget. Having different make/model tyres on different axles is not normally a problem, from either a road worthy or performance/handling perspective. Great deals and customer service can be obtained from Tyrepower Hawthorn. The proprietors are Micky and Sam.
That is really helpful - thanks !
Current ride - MKVI GTI, Candy White, 4 door, Detroits, DSG, BT
Previous VW - MK 1 Golf Clipper Convertible - 1993 - gone and now called Linda
Previous VW - MK 1 Golf GTI 1983, Lhasa Green, Perrielli P's, euro front look, gone but not forgotten
I need to get 2 rear tyres for my MK 6 GTI, they came with Bridgestone Potenza (050 AEZ) 225/40/18
I was actually thinking of trying something else - would it be ok for me to put a different tyre on and then wait a few months for the fronts to need replacing ? (fronts still have a few months to go i reckon)
Also any Melbourne tyre shop recommendations? would prefer central / inner west
Thanks in advance
Gary
That will work fine. Consider taking advantage of any 4 for 3 offers and getting 2 fitted now & 2 fitted later. Many tyre shops are happy to do this

Got some Continental SC5 for my Mk6 GTi yesterday (225/45/17). Had a closer look after I got home, and realised that 3 of the tyres had a load rating of 91, the 4th one was 94 XL.
I assume the 94XL is a bit stiffer and heavier than the 91. Any thoughts on whether I should take the car back and ask the shop to replace the 94 XL with a 91?
Or is the difference so minimal I won't even notice the difference?

I got some Michelin Pilot Sport 3's fitted to my golf late last year. I was just washing the car and noticed all of them have 'inside' printed on the outside. Are they mounted the wrong way around? If so do I need to worry about it?

Got the Pilot sport 3 today , very sticky , and much quieter than the Potenza's , $250 a corner
Went in to fix a puncture, came out with new tyres...lol. Anyway, had these before on my MPS, great tyre, great value, quiet, good longevity. Hankook Ventus S1 Evo2 $230 a corner 235/35/19
