I think you're pretty much right about everything. When we were younger we were often more time rich and cash poor. Couple that wth an interest in cars and of course we were tinkerers who wanted to modify (and fix) our own things.
Now we have less time and the income to support nicer things......

Given the age of these head units and their basic functionality, it's hard to go past something like the RCD330+ upgrade for Android Auto / Apple CarPlay in a drop in form factor. You can go other branded head units with an adaptor, but I do like the OEM look.

We lost a couple of belts on ours, the apparent culprit was the AC compressor with a bent shaft. It was swapped out and we didn't have the issue again. Interestingly, I know a guy with a Polo a long while back with the same issue of chewing through belts which was allegedly solved with a new compressor....Leave a comment:

It was before the layout change... My best guess is that the AI search results in Google have stopped people from clicking on links.... but it's only a guess and not a great one.
Things were gradually tracking down over time, but we still had about 20k active users a week according to Google...Leave a comment:
