I have always found I got better fuel economy using the Caltex Vortex 98 in the 1.8l CL. Even if I don't get the 4c/L off with the Shell V-Power at Coles Express, it worked out more cost effective to pay more per litre but the extra mileage meant that I saved myself a couple of dollars a tank.
I have heard that the BP 98 is the best fuel of the lot but without a BP close by I do usually fill up with it.1997 Golf CL, 2011 Caddy Life TDI, 2007 Golf TDI, 1996 Vento GL (red), 2008 Skoda Octavia TDI

1 i had a more responsive car within a few hundred meters of exiting the station
2 i went from getting 550 from a tank to just shy of 600
Now if i ever pass a United i check to see if i need fuel as there arent many in Sydney
also on the way back from QLD in a VR6 that had a miss fire on the leg that was done on a tank of United from Coffs, the miss fire disappeared lol

Going to try and fit a new ignition switch to the vento to see if that fixes my power window problems! Back window wont go up at all and drivers window now wont work! Apparentky the ignition switch causes a whole lot of problems with electrics!

how hard is it to replace a door for a 5dr mk3 specifically the driver's door?
i saw this: How to replace a door on a MKIII
but what about stuff like the vacuum lines for the lock and speaker cables etc?
are they all part of that twist harness?

back windows are common as for the wiring splitting which can upset the front windows

front control arm bushes if you think they are worn but usually arent
strut top bearings and bushes
tie rod ends or the whole assembly
ball joints
sway bar end links and bushes
bearings if you are super keen.

make sure your vacuum lines and electric connector are the same. I had to swap wiring/vacuum lines in the door as there was some differences between carsLast edited by dylan8; 15-03-2016, 05:36 PM.

We bought a mk3 cabrio on the weekend. Speedo and tachometer work but sometimes when we start the car, they don't work. What should I be checking to ensure they work all the time?
Thankyou.Mk IV Golf GTI - BMP - GIAC chip, R32 wheels, KW coilovers, rear swaybar.
