      • They should pull up good once warmed up.
I went with QFM on my Honda race car, but sold it before I had the chance to test them out Let us know how redstuff works for you.
        - Orange Golf mk1 LS, 1.8 5speed, 32/36 - sold
        - Golf mk1 Swallowtail rebuild, completely stripped
        - Brown U.S import 81 cabby

        • I've been recommended qfm, hawk, project mu and endless, but they either don't make the pads to suit or everyone I enquired with couldn't be stuffed chasing it up, so I went with the next best thing. I would've preferred the yellow stuff but the reds are the only pads they make for the mk3 2.0

          • Hmm, you must deal with crappy shops. QFM didn't have my pads in stock for the Honda, so my brake shop sent them my old pads, and they made identical ones haha. Also I didn't realise you were running mk3 front brakes

            • I've got some green stuff pads on the Seat parts car which has the same calipers as the MK3. Someone must be selling the different colours.

Yeah the EBC pads are very readily available, and as far as I'm aware, the pads go:
                Green - sports pads
                Red - sport/light track
                Yellow - moderate track
                Blue - full blown race
                But I could be wrong

                • EBC don't have a great reputation for track use, years ago they were better, but they went off in the early 2000's
They do seem OK for road , Yellow will be OK for road as well, maybe noisy

I've definitely heard mixed reviews so I've set my expectation fairly low. But expecting them to be great, but for the price I paid ($180 for all round) I can't go too wrong. Surely they'll run rings around the glazed OEM pads I had at Winton haha

                    • Quick update on the brakes.

They don't feel half as bad as I expected. Minimal noise and they seem to not mind extreme braking so far 👌👌👌

Unfortunately didn't get to meet the owner of this mk2 but gee they looked cute together haha

                      • An unexpected alternator failure has lead me to treat the mk1 to a mk3 alternator and starter motor, new water pump and thermostat. Looks, sounds, starts and generally is completely much better than before!!!

However I've encountered an issue with the thermostat. I purchased a Tridon tt2034-180. A high flow thermostat. But as I was bleeding the system and getting her to temp, the water gauge would reach 100° without the fans going off. Odd
I assumed the temp switch had failed so I gave it another shot with the fan plugged directly to 12v and the temp would still boil...

Here is where I realised the top rad hose would get super hot but the bottom rad hose would be only lukewarm. The radiator too would only get pretty warm but not hot, explaining the switch not kicking it. ****...

Pulled the thermostat back out and realised it is much deeper than the original, possibly fouling on the inside of the water pump housing and not opening completely???

Anyone else have had thermostat issues in the past???

                        • Forgot to mention. A little something I've always wanted on any of my cars, and for the low cost of 23$, I couldn't say no haha [emoji14]

Also a close up of my carbon fiber lip I've been toying around with it's still in the works but I've have it fitted for a while nevertheless
