Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • so i checked both of those fields, and as you can see they were ALREADY NOT ACTIVATED. i did NOT have to change anything

the RVC video cable is in the right spot as well, black at pin 12 and the other at pin 6

i have also tried the other steps you suggested, make the 117712 activated and then the 117713 (using the 3 options you suggested, terminal 15, or comfort data bus, or infotainment data bus )

and none of those combinations were of any success.

Sorry to pick your brain over this...

      • I would power the camera with an external 12v power supply and test that way first. Also try swapping the 2 pins on the camera input to the MIB.

i already did that; my initial thought was that maybe the two pins were soldered wrong inside the camera so i swapped the pin 6 and 12 in the blue connector, but no dice

          • Confirm that the following adaptation channel is set to 'FBAS':
            IDE03471-ENG126143-Vehicle configuration-RVC_video_input

Also confirm with a multimeter that the camera is getting 12v.

it must be getting 12V as i see/hear it come ON and flip open when i put the car in reverse

also should i put these TWO adaptations back to NOT ACTIVE??? because DON asked me to set them to this

              1. Car Function List BAP Gen2 → VPS_0x0B > active
              2. Car Function List BAP Gen2 → VPS_0x0B_msg_bus > terminal 15, or comfort data bus, or infotainment data bus

also what i have noticed that when i connect the can lines (+ and -), this particular camera also needs/requires 12V switched voltage, and if i put that fused line in a spot ( in this case a spot where its taken by another fuse/circuit as my R don't have any free spots it gives me an error when i do a scan....for that particular circuit, in this case something to do with headlights

but i dont' get those errors if i dont' connect the switched 12V, it's weird

              • VPS should be disabled. That's only for OEM highline control module. Was worth a try.

You don't have a PDC module so you need to disable PDC adaptations:

                ENG122227-ENG117498-Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2-menu_display_pdc_over_threshold_high

VPS??? what's that?? all this is gibberish to me

                  so all these

what about the other 2 adaptations i mentioned?? should i return them to NOT active as they were before?

i'm not too fluent when it comes to using vag com and changing stuff...so i need more step by step info....LOL

                    • Is that camera plug going directly to your quadlock that goes into the MIB not the adaptor right?

I like to test RVCs with an old portable screen that has video in (the yellow rca) to see if it's outputting.

Going back over your pictures, your adaptor does not looks to have wiring joining the rectangle plugs to the MIB, you need to remove this and move them to the other side of the adaptor.

Just saw your reply, nvm then

those wires are the can + and - that go through the adaptor to the MIB...so weather i connect them at that end or the MIB end, essentially it's the same thing

                              kamold : Yes, I agree.

However, and notwithstanding OP's belief that this is a low-line camera, the device DOES has CAN High/Low wires - which as you will know, is very much a characteristic of a high-line device on the OEM version camera.

Why would a low-line camera need CAN wires? Low-line cameras simply need power and a trigger wire from the reverse-light to initiate the Video signal! This OEM camera has both the low-line trigger wire (item "3" in OP's picture) AND CAN wires - very odd!!!

                              Don
Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the wider expertise of other forum members! Thank you.

I have had one of these, it uses the steering angle sensor to approximate the high line lines, this is passive on the can network unlike the highline unit.
