However- given your latest scan, I'm not sure if the "cannot be reached" errors are due to the fact that these modules refer to the original factory modules that were replaced by the new MIB unit.

I note that your SCAN does NOT report a module at the normal CAN address for a MIB (which is address hex5F) - but I assume that the MIB is operating correctly (other than the RVC operation). Lots of aftermarket MIB-lookalike non-OEM units avoid SCAN reports

Normally, a MIB not appearing on a SCAN would be problematic - but because the infotainment set-up on this car is now very non-OEM, anything is possible. So it's anyone's guess how the SCAN is meant to report a healthy Infotainment CAN arrangement for the retrofitted MIB on this car!

After viewing the full-SCAN, my gut-feel is now that this car might need to have its GIL (Gateway Installation List) adjusted - but again, the fact that there is NO 5F module in your SCAN and the MIB is working, makes me hesitant to suggest this option!!

The other concerning issue is the RVC, itself - meaning that the non-OEM camera that you retrofitted is NOT like a normal OEM low-line camera

An OEM low-line camera does NOT use CAN-high/low wires - it's a simple dumb device that hangs-off the MIB. The OEM high-line camera is the version that is connected to the CAN network!

However, clearly the non-OEM camera that you installed DOES use CAN high/low wires, but I assume from your words above that it was sold as a low-line camera. So something is very different about the RVC that you installed - no surprise I guess because it's non-OEM equipment!!

So bottom-line = it's possible because of the non-OEM MIB that you first installed that the "cannot be reached" errors in your SCAN might be a "red-herring" for the camera problem - maybe?

I suggest that you try a couple of experiments:

1. Remove the CAN high/low wires from their connections to the CAN network.
   • Cleae ALL errors and then make a fresh SCAN.
   • Do the same "cannot be reached" errors re-appear? If so, the SCAN errors result from the retrofitted MIB (i.e. the errors are dispositive to the RVC problem)
   
   
2. Refit the CAN high/low wires
   1. Change the current status of Byte 19, Bit 4 (Rear View Camera (RVC) Low installed) on the long-code for the 5F module (the MIB). Does the image appear on the MIB screen when reverse-gear is selected?
   
   
3. If the problem persists- post-up a copy of the full MIB long-code string and the values for the 2 x adaptation channels below:
   1. Car Function List BAP Gen2 → VPS_0x0B

thx for the reply

so to answer your question, YES the MIB STD2 PQ +/NAV part #5C0 035 684 (that i installed in my mk6 R to replace the factory RMS-510) works just fine apart for the RVC not displaying on the screen when i put the car in reverse.

i had someone program the MIB unit programmed with the options that my mk6r came with, dynaudio amp. etc, etc...and he asked me if i want the RVC enabled as well, i said YES as i was gonna get one later ON.

and even before i had bought this RVC i was still getting the black screen when putting the car in reverse, and i think that is the case because the MIB is enabled taht way for teh RVC, even though there wasn't one installed.

i bought this type of RVC as i've seen some videos or posts of someone that had bought one and it worked with his MIB unit.

hmm........... OK, clearly the software switch for the low-line camera is set. Assuming that this non-OEM camera (which surprisingly uses CAN high/low wires) is indeed a low-line camera- this should be OK.

Check that the values for the 2 x adaptation channels below in the 5F module are set to not active:

1. Car Function List BAP Gen2 → VPS_0x0B
2. Car Function List BAP Gen2 → VPS_0x0B_msg_bus

Also, check that the video-signal terminations on the QUAD lock connector for the coaxial cable is correct - meaning that the screen-earth wire (Black wire in the picture below) is connected to pin #12 and NOT to pin #6.



Finally, if you still can't get the camera to work - maybe try telling the MIB that this is a high-line camera? I'm totally guessing of course and this is a "desperation" suggestion!! To do this, remove the tick from Byte 19 Bit 4 and set:

1. Car Function List BAP Gen2 → VPS_0x0B > active
2. Car Function List BAP Gen2 → VPS_0x0B_msg_bus > terminal 15, or comfort data bus, or infotainment data bus

If ALL my suggestions above fail - I'm all-out-of-ideas!!

Again, the problem with this equipment is that it's non-OEM, maybe the seller can help?

From the VCDS Open Controller screen for the 5F Module - select Adaptation - 10


In the Search box below, enter "ENG117712" and ENG122229-ENG117712-Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2-VPS_0x0B should appear in the Channel (1B) box. If it doesn't, click on the down-arrow on the right-side of the Channel (1B) box and select the channel. Make the suggested change and press Do it! - follow the prompts to implement the change.

Repeat for the 2nd channel by entering "ENG117713" into Search box
