    • @RBmk6R: I suspect @kamold is busy pursuing other stuff (we should allow him a personal life outside the forum- I guess!! ).

Anyway, with my apology if I'm stealing his thunder - do this:
      1. Fire-up VCDS software, plug-in the dongle to the car's OBD port and connect to the laptop
      2. On the Main screen -click Select under Select Control Module
      3. Select 5F-Information Electr. module
      4. Click-on Coding - 07
      5. Click-on Long Coding Helper
      6. Use the UP/Down button to navigate to Byte 19. If you are using older VCDS software, click-on successive entries to the right on line 3) on the screen in Step 7. until Byte 19 shows
      7. Remove tick from Bit 4 on the screen below
      8. Press "X" at the extreme upper RHS of the screen - this should return to the screen in Step 5.
      9. The New coding box on the screen in Step 5. should be populated with the new long-code string
      10. Press Do it! and follow prompts to implement change
      11. Exit VCDS software

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the wider expertise of other forum members! Thank you.

      • Thanks for the reply Don.
In this case I suspect that 5f is not enabled in the gateway, as it won't support that CAN address.
So at step 3. you'll need to manually enter the address 5F in the box at bottom left.
Then the rest of the instructions apply.

              • Probably a question best directed to the seller, but looks from the link like it should work.

                • Bought a lowline RVC.
                  Everything is working fine now.
Will add later a switch to manually activate rear view without engaging rear gear.

                  Thanks Kamold.

I assume that you will simply thieve a +12V supply from somewhere and simulate the normal power supply to the RVC from the right-side reversing light. This should be OK- but be aware that the over-ride switch will NOT work if the car is traveling faster than the set threshold speed.

Both high and low line cameras have very different switch-ON and switch-OFF mechanisms!!

                          • RBmk6R: Hi.

Hmm......the first point to make is that an edited SCAN report is NOT good!!

I have never understood why folk believe that it's a good idea to provide just a snippet of a SCAN report on forum posts!! Yes, it makes posts shorter to read - but the cost to anyone seeking help on a forum is that it makes the INCORRECT assumption that there is only ONE way to read a SCAN report. This assumption is wrong - there is lots of useful diagnostic data in virtually every aspect of a SCAN report: the most useful part of a complete SCAN is that it tells us how the car was built!!

So alas, I have to start my reply with the caveat that information that would have added to my understanding of this car is missing because of the edited SCAN!

That said, what is clear from the limited data provided is that the Gateway module is unable to talk to modules:
                            • Address 2E: Media Player 3
                            • Address 37: Navigation
                            • Address 56: Radio

Now, again because of the edited SCAN, I'm not sure what other modules are installed in this car - but a common element of the 3 x modules above is that they are likely ALL connected to the Infotainment CAN bus (which is one of 4 x CAN buses on this PQ platform car).

Again, my hunch is a guess because I don't have access to a full SCAN!

If my suspicion above is correct (i.e. that this car was built with ONLY the 3 x modules connected to the Infotainment CAN bus) - then I suspect that the part-SCAN is saying that for some reason, the new CAN connections from the camera might have shorted this CAN bus. A reasonable diagnostic cause for this combination of module errors (IMO, of course) COULD be that the CAN-high/CAN-low wires might be incorrectly connected to the CAN-high/CAN-low wires on the factory loom on the QUAD-lock plug.

I suggest you check the CAN connections as per the picture below (i.e. make sure that CAN-high wire from the camera is connected to the CAN-high factory wire and the same for the CAN-low wires)

                            Don

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the wider expertise of other forum members! Thank you.

                              Don

                              hi Don,

first off, i tried to put the whole scan BUT, it said that it has too many characters (it was 14000+ characters and only 4000 allowed)

secondly, i tried to add a picture where i attached the can + and can - wires and again, i could NOT attach a picture

i have attached the provided can + and can - connector that comes with this camera to the stock rns 510 quadlock and NOT to the wire harness adaptor that goes to the MIB 2....does that make a difference??

becasue the stock RNS 510 connector pin 9 is can + and pin 10 is can - and in essence are the same wires that go to the mib 2 harness adaptor, NO??

                              thanks again.

OK, you will find an example of a full VCDS auto-scan embedded in a forum post - HERE.
Notice that the SCAN details appear in a box the has "Code" on the top. This facility can be invoke by selecting "<>" option on the top dialogue-box (i.e. it's on the right-side of 3rd line) of the forum's "advanced" reply function.
                                To access - do this:
                                1. first select "Reply"
                                2. then select "Go Advanced".

Also, the forum permits pictures from your PC and from a third-party hosting site - that's how I included pictures in my replies. So you can add pictures on your PC, or you can add pictures using a URL link. If you use a URL link - remove tick from "Retrieve remote file and reference locally" box

I would not have thought that it makes a difference! Is the MIB2 module appearing on your SCAN - it wasn't in the part-SCAN on your first post?

Not much that can be done without posting-up a full SCAN -ain't no purpose in just guessing, it doesn't help!!
