I would make sure you ask the seller, as there are multiple slightly different modules.
Measure the existing module as this seller suggests:
Special Trunk handle CCD Car Rear View Camera Reverse Backup Camera For VW Passat Tiguan Golf Touran Jetta Sharan Touareg navi-in Vehicle Camera from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

The image quality is not that great with a converter.
Your best bet is to fit an aftermarket composite camera and plug straight into the Discover. I did this in my wife's Octavia and the image quality is excellent with a $40 boot release camera from Ali express.
Image quality in mine isn't quite as good, but that is because I have the highline module (bending guidelines) that introduces a bit of noise with the processing of the image to add the overlaid guidelines.

I've just installed this unit on my b6 passat in the uk. Not had to change gateway or cluster. I can access the unit in vcds by directly going to address 5F, everything is displaying on the cluster ok, music, nav info etc. Only thing left to do is reconnect reverse camera. Ideally want a converter but there is complaints about picture quality. Any recommendations apart from fitting a new camera?

My current gateway and cluster are 3C0920972J and 3C0907530Q

Change the amp coding in 5f infotainment long coding.
Not sure which is correct for Fender but try 03 instead of 05.
You need to physically remove your old Bluetooth module.
    Check behind the climatronics panel.

You can also change the startup sticker to fender with 00 01 I think (or 00 03 can't remember)

Thanks kamold for the wealth of information.

I have a retrofitted MIB2 in my 2015 Passat and am loving it, however some things are still eluding me.

The two things I'm having trouble with is the audio volume -- it is at 10% and it sounds like it it is at 80%. Unlikely your situation, I don't have a Dynaudio, I have the Fender amp, not sure if that plays into it differently, but wondering if you or anyone else had coding ideas. I also don't have fader available, just balance.

The other thing is my 2015 has a build in module (not under the seat as my 2010 for example had) and my MFI seems to get perplexed with having two bluetooth adapters, both talking to the MFI. I'd like to figure out a way in VCDS or something to disable the 'car' standard one and just use the radio's bluetooth.

Currently it shows 'no phone connected' and often when I turn on the car it puts up a code trying to convince me to connect my phone, meanwhile it is already attached and paired to the MIB2 radio. Other times it happens to show it connected successfully to the MIB2, but then when I try to use my steering controls, it is almost as if it crashes and then goes back to displaying the onboard bluetooth. I get the impression they are fighting each other. Thanks for the assistance (or if anyone else has an idea).

    Thanks!

Address 5F, long coding, byte 11 - change from 01 to 03 (or 05 for original Dynaudio amp)

    Address 5F, adaptations:
ENG122229-ENG117764-Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2-Amplifier_0x2D,not activated ==> change to activated
ENG122229-ENG117765-Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2-Amplifier_0x2D_msg_bus,not activated ==> change to "Databus Infotainment"
    MAS00950-Audio Parameter,0

    ENG117919-Startup_Screen_Sticker_HMI ==> 00 02 for Dynaudio

This correctly configured the unit for an external amplifier and allowed the balance/fader to work correctly.

Separate question: there's no ringtone in the car when someone calls me with my phone connected via bluetooth to the Discover Media unit. I can't find any ringtone options either. Does anyone know anything about this?
I'm running the older 3C0 gateway, so my missing icons could be different from someone else's. Mind you, I have a feeling when I installed the newer 7N0 everything was there.

For the ringtone issue, maybe try turning up the volume on the head unit when it rings (possible a different audio channel), or check your phone is set up correctly to route the ring via bluetooth audio.

I think your version is ok since you have 5F module on instal list.

Do you know what revision your gateway is? I upgraded mine, but to the BC revision (7N0 907 530 BC). Maybe I need a newer one still.

No that's new enough. It supports address 5f. I would think it has more to do with the cluster software version.

I remember it perfect as you described when i was installing the unit.

The white empty square went out when installing updated gw and unplugging media/bt module. I also have to do some wiring in bt module connector on the car side to get the bt mic working in mib2 unit.
