    Thanks Kamold...

    I tried a google translate, but it made no sense at all!

    The black plugs are identical, save the writing and the empty plug in one of them, so I know it's something important

    They aren't that expensive.
    But you need to run a new harness as well.
    If you have highline ready you don't want to go backwards...

    I was hoping to save the Highline Camera set up and obtained a AV-Adapter Interface. Problem is, there is no wiring instructions for it. Looking thru the net, it seems that these av-adapters are only for the lowline camera which have 5 wires to the RNS vs the highline 11-wires set up on the 26pin connector.

    You mentioned that it is possible. Any pointers on this ?

    Failing which, I would have to revert to a Lowline camera set up.
    The only way you can get highline to work is by using the Tiguan 7n0 highline rvc module.
    If you just use a rgbs to cvbs adapter the head unit will try to talk to the older rvc module and fail.

    Likely you just need to change your adaptation in the discover to correctly match amp:

    MAS00950-Audio Parameter,0 ==> change to 0

    Got it ! Finally !

    In your first post, you instructed that the MAS00950-Audio Parameter, should change from 0 to 1 but your latest instruction indicated "0".

    Tried it just now and the Fader came home !

    Now I got most items working. Got to downgrade my Rear View Camera from Highline to Lowline. Gonna to use the Golf 7 fixed line camera and forego the trajectory guide lines.

    Will keep you posted on my venture.

    Thanks !

    CAN filter is only required for cars with a cluster with software newer than 100x.
    I've seen the sound system amps play up from time to time. Sometimes unplugging and replugging brings them back to life, other times just going into diagnostics with VCDS and then back out will revive it.

    The balance/fader thing I seem to remember seeing one time but it was only when there was something wrong with the coding of the DM, or it might have been adaptation....I can't remember sorry!!
    Let me have a look through my coding and adaptation and see if I can remember. It was just something I saw once while mucking around and so I just changed it back when it wasn't working....something to do with trying to get the amp profiles like with the MQB Dynaudio I think...

    Those instructions I have already followed to the dot including the Byte 11 to 05 bit. Still can't seem to see the Fader display. Don't know what I am missing. Is there other adaptations that I need ? Or even coding on the DM2 ?

    Another strange episode is that when I fitted the same DM2 to a Golf 6 with Dynaudio amp, there is absolutely no sound coming out from the speakers. When we fit back the car's original RNS510, the sound was also gone. Had to unplug and reconnect the amplifier before the sound appears again. That method did not work when we fit the DM2 on the car. The amp used on the Golf is :

    Address 47: Sound System (R12) Labels: 5K0-035-456.clb
    Part No SW: 5K0 035 456 HW: 5K0 035 456
    Component: KonzernAmp 8K H06 0340

    Tried it on another Jetta mk6 which does not have any sound system, it worked perfectly. Both vehicle we had to install the adapter with the CAN filter. Strangely, on my Passat B7, I did not need the adapter with CAN filter.

    It is Dynaudio 10 Channel 600Watt original VW part which was retrofitted. The sound was perfect on the RNS510 but due to the ever worsening lag on the RNS, I am planning to upgrade it to the Discover Media unit. Until I got hold of your post, I was struggling with the Byte 11 coding. Finally with bit 5, it worked. The sound is much much better now, in fact better than that of the RNS510.

    I got my hands on a patched Discover Media from Europe. It worked great with the instructions you have provided above. I have on problem on the Fader function which was available on my RNS510 on the B7 Passat. The set came coded but there was no fader and I could not get the sound to work correctly then ( with Byte 11 changed to 05, it worked perfectly ). With your instructions, we rectified the sound issue but there is still no fader.

    Is there any way I could get the FADER function to appear ? Currently I have only the BALANCE available.

    Thanks !

    Dynaudio Amplifier
    New amplifier 3AA035466 from a Passat CC
    Original (also retrofitted) amp was 3C0035456F
    This is a simple plug and play swap.
    *UPDATE*
    This is not needed (tested and confirmed), there is now coding which will allow the original amp to work (see below)

    If you have a car with immobilizer in the cluster (ie Golf, Tiguan etc) and a 3D colour instrument cluster with software version ABOVE 0705, you will need to get a quadlock harness adapter than includes a CAN filter to prevent component protection message exchange between the MIB unit and the instrument cluster.

    When I first installed the unit it was not correctly configured for an external amplifier. There is both coding and adaptation channels which need to be set:

    Address 5F, long coding, byte 11 - change from 01 to 03 (or 05 for original Dynaudio amp)

    Address 5F, adaptations:
    ENG122229-ENG117764-Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2-Amplifier_0x2D,not activated ==> change to activated
    ENG122229-ENG117765-Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2-Amplifier_0x2D_msg_bus,not activated ==> change to "Databus Infotainment"
    MAS00950-Audio Parameter,0 ==> change to 1

    ENG117919-Startup_Screen_Sticker_HMI ==> 00 02 for Dynaudio

    This correctly configured the unit for an external amplifier and allowed the balance/fader to work correctly.
