Havent got bluetooth at this stage so thats not an option but good to know thanks.

Ok guys, thanks to this great thread I managed to revert back to 38xx and then updated to 40xx from the links at the front of this thread with the new partitions. All seems to be working great with V5 maps loaded on hdd etc. I used CDBurnerXP set to 1x and Track at once - I even went out and bought TDK CDR's as someone said they worked well.

Of note is the issue I had at the end of each update. I got this screen...



But after inserting the Unofficial 272x recovery CD the issue was fixed and I got this screen...



So not sure what to think. The unit is working brilliantly, shows speed limits and I even have a cool new Angry Rabbit boot screen I wish would come up more often! Should I be worried that the errors occured for both software updates?

Also the custom boot screen is the only swl update cd that does not give an error at the end of loading. Although if I try to re-boot so I can see my cool new screen I get this...



And it turns itself off, but then I just press the on button and its fine..

4020 on Skoda Columbus'

This 4020 firmware upgrade, is it seemless on the Skoda Columbus'? I think 1 or 2 upgrades ago two files needed swapping so that either the bluetooth phone or steering controls work properly & just want to make sure that doesn't need to happen again.

That only applies for older cars. Your profile mentions a MY12 Superb so you can just go right ahead with the upgrade.

Worked well for my MY11 Superb Columbus. Hardest part was finding the right media to burn on. Ended up going with TDK-RW DVD, burning Track At Once at slow speed (4x). Loaded the new Skoda startup screen too.

By the way Kamold and JohnC, thank you for your great instructions! Just thinking that you may want to add how to join multiple RAR files to make an ISO though. Not something that most people would do very often.

Sorry I meant to reply to your post thezoneR32's...

The last portion of the firmware load, VUCI which is reporting the failure may indicate that the tables it is trying to copy are not compatible.

You mentioned that you have a B revision unit I think so the 402x image that you are using needs some of those tables swapped around in order for you to use it. We have not made this widely available due to possible issues however FJSteve is running it on his A unit without issue as far as I am aware.

You have two options here: downgrade to the 381x image from the beginning of this thread which has the tables swapped for compatibility with your unit, or ask FJSteve to make the 402x image with table swaps available for others to try.

Yeah it's the one you made where you had to replace the dlscript.txt file to partition the hdd correctly.

1 small issue. If someone on the east coast could plug in a general POI (service station or GPO) for Perth Wa...see if the RNS calculates the distance/time. Not doing it for me for East Coast POI's

C'mon Steve put in the effort! Test the time to get to the Caltex in Lakemba from your place...see how accurate it is

you're closer to the real reason for me asking the question, than you think.

Everytime I put a Vic, NSW or QLD POI/Address into the RNS...it tells me it can't calculate the route. Adelaide/SA is fine....but the rest is zilch. It will show all the POI's for Qld/NSW/Vic, but won't calculate the route etc

Oh really? That sounds a little odd. I mean you leave the Perth GPO, head south, then south east and then go to sleep for about 8 hours until you hit Ceduna...how hard can it be to calculate?

Do you know if it used to do that in the past or was behaviour different?
