  • Advice please on expensive service recommendations

I'm increasingly unhappy with VW service. They seem more interested in making profit than caring for the custmer and communication between customer and mechanic is a very bad game of chinese whispers. The mechanic tick sheet is no longer provided, so all I get is a list of recommendations communicated...

  • B7 TDI - high mileage - when to replace + EGR cost?

    Morning all,

I've had my MY14 B7 TDI pretty much since new. It's now up to 170k. It's been pretty reliable - from memory I've had some suspension stuff (replaced with Bilsteins), a water pump failure around 90k so they also did the timing. It's had the engine warning light on for a while...

  • Radio options for MK7 Golf

Hi all, it’s probably been asked before but I cannot come to a positive outcome.
I’ve got a 4/2013 MK7 TDi Golf. What is the most cost effective, best way to upgrade the Radio unit (Discovery 1 with updated firmware) to something with a bigger screen and has apple play?

  • Interest story regarding engine faults and repair costs

This is an interest story regarding engine faults and the cost of repairs. The story may save you money.

I had engine faults with my 2017 Volkswagen caddy. I took the caddy to my local mechanic who put on aftermarket parts. This cost me $1400 and the faults were still present.

TDI V6 rear main seal - replacement cost?

I'm about to buy a 2012 Touareg 6cyl TDI that failed roadworthy for a rear main seal.

Does anyone have any ideas of the (no doubt horrendous) cost to have this replaced?

EDIT: I should add that I've factored in about $4K for this. Does that sound about right?

Stage 1 vs stage 2 - cost, gains

Picked up a 2018 Arteon a few months ago, already had stage 1 APR tune & DSG tune installed by previous owner. It seemed delightfully quick compared to the R36 it replaced, but now I'm used to it... such is the curse of quick cars, they only feel quick for a limited time.

    From what...

    Tiguan MK2 Roof Racks

    Hey all,

Recently received our new Tiguan Life MY22, and are looking to invest in some roof racks. Looking for some recommendations and good/bad experiences people have had. We aren't looking to go all out on cost, as they would only be for occasional use.

    My three main priorities...

    Cost to replace strut mounts

Hey guys. I got quoted 1350$ by vw north shore to have my strut mounts and bearings replaced because the suspension is clunking at low speeds and around turns. Considering I’ve seen this type of work being done before the cost sounded crazy to me. It’s a 15 minute job on each side. And it’s a...

  • Replacement cost for fuel filler cap actuator

    Hi guys,
My almost 4yo Tiguan's fuel filler cap actuator has stopped working for at least 6 months. Have managed to get by as I can pry open the fuel filler lid with my finger but was going to get it sorted at the next service.
Car is out of warranty. Checked the cost of replacement for...

    Instrument cluster backlit dead

I have a 2010 Golf Gti MKVI and my backlight on my instrument cluster has been dead for over a year now. I've asked a mechanic and they said I'll need to replace the pcb which can cost up to $800.
Has anyone had this issue and know what options I might have in getting this fixed.

    Skoda Yeti GPS inactive

I have a 2014/15 Skoda yeti diesel - just bought it and love it - BUT - the bloody GPS doesn't work. Took it to Skoda Richmond and they told me to pay for an SD car - $100 - did that but get a message "SD card error" on the screen. They now suggest the electronics need to be scanned with their...

    Hi guys,

So according to my mechanic, my rocket cover is leaking and apparently the whole rocket cover needs to be replaced and he said the pcv cannot purchase separately. My pcv is cracked/worn.

The total cost for a new rocket cover, labour and new spark plugs cost me...

I did do a search but couldn't find anything. So new post.
I have a MY12 Tiguan and I was down to one key. Said key went through the wash and now doesn't work.
I've tried drying the fob and replacing the battery, but neither seems to help.
