Skoda Yeti GPS inactive

I have a 2014/15 Skoda yeti diesel - just bought it and love it - BUT - the bloody GPS doesn't work. Took it to Skoda Richmond and they told me to pay for an SD car - $100 - did that but get a message "SD card error" on the screen. They now suggest the electronics need to be scanned with their computer (at my cost) - BUT - I found a post on your forum that says Skoda imported these knowing the GPS would not work because they didn't have Aussie maps. AMAZING!
Anyone out there managed to crack this problem?

I'm pretty sure it wasn't an AU feature.

It might help others if you said which HU it was.

It has been mentioned here before though.
