I'd double check the n75 lines for leaks, that hose has split on me a few times and I had to keep trimming it until it got so short that it kinked.

Thanks mate. Yeah the rods come with a little booklet. It says that the preffered method of tightening the rods is with a stretch gauge and they need to be tightened to 0.006" of stretch. It also states that if you dont have access to a stretch gauge to use a high quality torque wrench and tighten to 50ft/lbs 3 times per bolt using there supplied lubricantOriginally posted by KKK VR6 View PostLoving every bit !!
Looks sick too
Just wondering with the rods you got, do they tell you what torque, to torque the rod bolts down to ?
Thanks

Re: Lito's MK4 GTI
Nice, are you just dropping in the rods or are you going to do any machine work

Cheers mate, just re-honed the block and dropping the rods it. Everything looked pretty tidy in there so just giving it a clean and putting it all back together. Here are some more picks from the rest of the afternoon...Originally posted by Njay View PostNice, are you just dropping in the rods or are you going to do any machine work

Cracking the head bolts

Head off

Stuff ready for me to clean

Turbo mocked up on the head

Head after we cleaned it up

Cleaned and honed block.

Should be a bit stronger

Hooray for big port

Forgot to say a big thanks the Gavin and his very accommodating family. Even gave me his little red polo as a loaner!Last edited by Lito; 24-02-2013, 07:34 PM.

Will get those other rods changed over tomorrow and give the pistons a good clean up before fitting the new rings.
I'll have the bottom end back together by tuesday morning. Then the head on with manifold fitted.
There's a bit to work out with the water and oil piping. Once the sump is back on, I can do the timing belt as well.
If there's no dramas fixing up the turbo to downpipe, we'll be running thursday or friday.
