Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I'm happy with a 1'14"0260. i was stuck on 1'15"3 all morning with traffic holding me up. after lunch managed to squeeze a bit more out of it with a 1'15"1. then on the final lap in the final session of the day i cracked the 1'14s. soo happy with the results. now aiming for 1'13s and beyond
FYI the focus XR5 was in fact a Focus RS
What kind of brakes and tyres were you running?
After my first day out on Thursday, I'm keen to get into it more. I found the weakest point in the car was the brakes. After 1 hot lap, they were cooked. The tyres didn't hold out much longer either. I had no official timing on Thursday, but timed myself by re watching the in car camera I had mounted. Are 1'20" ~ 1'22" good times for a car with a APR chip, HR springs and a RSB?

Eddy's car OTOH is anything but stock. Here's the direct link to Eddy's mod list for those who can't be bothered searching there
Edd's lastest mod. list.. Not saying Eddy isn't a good driver, though - you need guts, experience and talent to do that time even in a car like his.Resident grumpy old fart

Are these heavier than the Bora Sports? I'm so torn because on one hand i love the look o the Bora Sports but they are too heavy and i want something lighter.MY2008 VW Polo GTi / GIAC Tune / Forge FMIC / Forge 007 DV / N75 Race / BMC OTA / KW V1 Coilovers / Whiteline Front&Rear Swaybars + Toe-In Shim / Weichers Front&Rear Strut Braces / Full Non-Res Milltek Exhaust / 17" Bora Sport

Did the Timing belt + a major service. The whole this took about 4.5 hours thanks to the help of LucasWasn't the nightmare job I was expecting. Now just got to fiddle with the cam timing to get the 'powerband' back where it was. Might just advance it a bit
Also bought some piping for my front mount install. Finally a bit of fabrication to doLast edited by GoLfMan; 27-08-2011, 08:46 AM.VW: it aint just a car, its a way of life

Just bought the Lambo along for fun - spent most of the day doing passenger laps at 8/10ths and don't care about setting scorching lap times and driving the doorhandles off as that's what the Polo is for. I'm also the first to admit that getting quick times out of that car is massively above my driving skill level.
Had great fun in both cars but for very different reasons - and hopefully none of my passengers were upset we only turned 1:10s...!
