Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Or is it best to book it into a dealer?
    Hi csimpson,

I just posted photos and instructions in the Problems and Fix register thread.

Hopefully this fixes it for you as well.

Thats going to make a comprehensively modified car, nice. I'm still in two minds about going that far... need another polo on the racetrack so make me want more from it (now hoping Eddie doesn't come out where I go, that'd embarass me, lol).

                    Where do you go racing?

I'm hoping to get my car in for the roll cage in a few weeks.

Usually the QR Saturday sprints though am hoping to get to some midweek ones, more track time and mix of circuits. Have done lakeside once, might do it again (seen too much damage caused there) and been to morgan park a couple of times. Certainly let me know when you head out, would be great to see another polo out there. I'm aiming for the next saturday sprint at QR (this month I think)

I am going to go broke from buying fuel now, cant stop driving it haha. Worth every $ if you like more noise. Also feels more torquey and makes giving it a little blat now and then much more fun. The bigger twin tailpipes look heaps better too!

Speaking of noise i am buying a BMC OTA (the oval one that doesnt need battery mod) soon which should give me even more. Nothing too ricer boy but for me anyway, makes driving the car more enjoyable.

Last thing after the FMIC and and CDA will be the brakes, thinking ECS 2-piece .. hmm.

                        • Squeezed in another sheet of Dynamat, and some insulating foam fot the inner door/rear panels.

                          MUCH quieter on the road.

Pulled all the inner trims off, found the rattle in the dash that has been frustrating me for the last three years.... Something's loose inside the glovebox lid.

                          Making it nicer to drive!

                          • Hi guys I started the car tonight. Then 20 meters down the road car lost all power. The car would shudder and struggle when i would accelerate. Feels like it has lost a cylinder. I smelled smoke. I pulled over had a look at the engine bay and couldnt find any leaks. Drove it very slowly home. 20-30k/hr.

Thinking it could be coilpacks or fuel pump. Is this pricey to fix? I need to put it on a tow truck and hopefully wont be too expensive to fix. What do you guys think the problem is?

                            • This mornings effort.

Huge discovery is that it looks like the late model PD100s use the same inlet manifold as the PD150. go figure. PD150 on left PD100 on the right. My inlet manifold was pretty clean as well atleast compared to a few others.

Little split in the radiator hose thanks to VW's crappy design, the radiator hoses for the EGR rub.

                              Turbo Manifold.

                              • Got my BMC OTA in the mail today, and managed to fix the knocking i was getting from the front. Loose swaybar link ...

While i was there i found my passenger side CV boot pissing grease everywhere. Anyone know how big of a job it will be to fix that? Dont think i have the tools to do it myself ...
