Vacuumed the interior.
The PD160 Seat intake arrived, so I thought I better fit it, and did. Fairly tight fit, but no problems.
The dash cubby also arrived. Took about a minute to put it in. Doesn't fit exactly perfectly, but it's close enough that probably only I would notice.
Next I am interested in finding out how to improve airflow through the existing intercooler. Looking at it I can't see exactly where the cooling flow comes from, but I think it's via the lower right hand grill, beside the fog light. There's a not very large aperture. Would that be correct, those who know?

yep, and apart from taking out the spot light and opening it up, there isnt much that can be done. Fitting a FMIC is a better option but much more expensive.
2016 MY17 Polo GTI with DA package. TMD fitted + Weather strip and Snow Screen removed otherwise dead standard.
Drove it from Moorabbin to Port Melbourne via Beach Rd, averaging 3.8L/100km, indicated (light traffic, 60km/h limit).
Repeated the run with slightly heavier traffic and stock map averaged 3.9 L/100km, indicated and then drove back with heavier traffic again for total average of 4.0 L/100km.
Actual consumption was probably 4.1 L/100km and 4.2 L/100km given the 5% average optimism of the indicated consumption when running the stock ECU map (the previous figure was with a higher performance map that seemed to give 10% optimistic figures so actual consumption would have been about the same).

I doubt I'll be doing that. Nice cool climate, here, and the only time I seem to get much heat soak is in heavy traffic.
The standard setup does look as though an extractor fan might be of use in some circumstances (like low airflow circumstances) as there doesn't seem to be a clear path for warm air that's rammed in to exit cleanly...it just goes up through the intercooler and exits into the engine bay, where I guess it then competes with airflow from the radiator to exit the engine bay downward and out.
Not a big deal though. I'm not a racer and the performance as it is, is simply sparkling. Quite happy. I'm just curious to make any efficiency gains that are there for the taking, cheaply. I saw a thread about one user who had created a vent in the front mudguard to try and achieve improved airflow...it hardly made any difference, but hat's off to the attempt!
We've just had a rather destructive earthquake in Christchurch, for anyone interested. Real bad news; much destruction, and it looks like this time there will be a number of deaths. Maybe a lot. Not a good day in NZ.

Spec83 - I purchased that same Turbosmart compact and thought all was good, no check engine light but it will log a diverter valve error using a vaglink, I didn't realise until the guys at CVWC checked out my APR tune, just something to keep an eye on, but apart from that you get a hiss setting it up that way and a flutter setting it up the other way, so just wondering which was is the appropriate installation???
Jason
It's the hiss noise, flutter isn't healthy for the turbo
