  • i once got to 5.0L/100km with my GTI.
granny style driving, trying not to break, using the cruise control most of the times and only shift when nessasery, and not rev it!
not much fun at all, but nice to know their is another term in the word "extreme" :-p

    • With the Polo GTI, you can get better fuel consumption without using cruise control. The reason is that in situations where it's fine to "coast" with no acceleration (which results in 0L/100km), cruise control often still has light acceleration (of ~2L/100km).

      • I drove up from Canberra to Penrith for the Summer Cruise.... Did the trip in 2.5hrs and got 7.5L/100km... I'm actually happy with that...

Did my 1st refill with this map (applied just after the last fill) and my indicated mileage is about 10% optimistic now (previously it was about 5%) so actual mileage for this run was only 4.2L/100km

Mileage on a previous trip (when the car only had 800km on it) up to and back from Sydney via Hume Hwy got 5.1L/100km actual (Sydney driving not included) with cruise control and aircon used. I was hoping for better than that but the car needs a 6th gear

            • Corey R: tried it many times again without the Cruise control, never managed to get past that 5.0L...
and i know how to drive carefull and economical, i do reach the same result as the CC, but i just can't make it going below 5.0L...

now it's not possible anymore, got Exhaust, IC etc... and no remap yet.
so my fuel economy is the same as a fighter jet on afterburner flying straight up vertical, but without it's performance :-p

              • DNA Tune - Complete!!

Well, after a couple of false starts due to some ECU issues caused by some previous fiddling (won't go into it), John from DNA come back to me with some revised load instructions and a Stage 2 map to upload this evening.

My initial impressions... after a couple minutes of warm up I had a grin ear-to-ear as I buried the foot to the firewall. The spool up still occurs at about 2000rpm like stock but there is now a little bit of lag until the turbo fully winds up just before 3000rpm and from there on the little Pog lifts its nose as the tacho spins to the 5500rpm point very quickly... For the price I am very happy and impressed by the re-map. There is a little bit of jerkyness in the lower speeds on gears 1 and 2 but I think this is more a function of the increased torque figures and I'll just have to adapt my driving technique. Also, freeway roll on acceleration from 80kmh in 3rd or 4th gears is very addictive.

I felt the car in it's stock form always felt a little corse from just above 3000rpm to redline, but now it sounds and feels silky smooth.

Big thanks again to John from DNA for all his help and prompt service, has been a pleasure to deal with and a great product

                • last week i ordered some Forge parts.
Turbo TIP, Throtlle body hose, new springs for the 007 diverter valve.
and today they called me up to let me know i could get my parts :-p

i'm verry thrilled about this because these are the last things i needed to do before remapping.
so coming weeks this will be installed and somewhere in March he will be custom remapped finally!!

@Spec83: how much Hp and Torque you got frome stage 2??

Thanks for the kind words Mark; it was a pleasure dealing with you as you were very patient and understanding.

Your review of the changes to the power delivery are absolutely spot on with how the tune works; you must have a good feel of your car! Remember that due to the increased ramp up in torque especially in the 2500-4000rpm range, you may find that the traction control cuts in more often in 1st/2nd, so yes, if it is appropriate, you can switch it off if it is interfering with your style of driving.

@instigator, our "aggressive" tune, also sometimes referred to as Stage 2, is rated with a peak power of 145kW to 155kW, depending on your exhaust upgrades. Similarly, peak torque is up to between 315Nm and 330Nm. This tune can be run even on a stock car, but also strongly benefit from more free flowing exhaust and intercooler upgrades to unlock the additional power available from the 1.8T.

Plus what other engine mods have been done (previously, of course) to go along with the remap?

                              • Please give us the part numbers so the rest of us can order ourselves some of these. Also, is your car a 5dr or 3dr? Does it make any difference in the sizes/lengths of the bars?
