Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    • I removed the RHS wheels, washed, polished, wheel waxed, rotated & adjusted the tyre pressures.

I had alot of trouble actually getting the wheels off the car after removing the bolts, hence only one side was done. Tomorrow for the LHS.

      • Today I pulled out a good sized nail from the left rear tyre.

But it looks like it didn't go through. Then I washed the dirty little girl.

          • Got my wheels rotated and aligned. Should make the tyres last a bit longer now. Speaking of which, is it normal practice to do balancing when you rotate wheels? Toe for both fronts were adjusted from -0.08" to 0.00". The camber some how got adjusted too... I thought it was not adjustable?

Wheels should remain balanced ... unless you've lost weights from them.

It might be just what I have picked up, but I always balance the tyres when I rotate them rear to front on any car I work on. It just eliminates one more variable when it comes to driveline shudder.

                      • Went and gave my Pogo a good wash and cleaned the interior. I'm heading down to Hidden Vally for Off Street Drags tomorrow night to give it a run. Should be fun.

                              • I have to agree with the Blitzen and thats just diligence on your part mate to balance on a rotate, good work, balance can go out through time and you might introduce a gremlin from the rear to the front. Back in the day mate they used to balance them on the vehicle which was the go and this eliminated anything going on in the drive line and hubs. HAve fun at Hidden Valley mate , i used to live in Jingli mate!!!!! love it up there
                                Cheers
