I got my gti tuned last night by the unequalled skills of Gavin. I thought I would get a nice performance boost... now my car is easily the most fun vehicle I have ever been in. It is nothing short of incredible in terms of additional power and torque, and if the computer is correct, slightly better fuel economy. Best money I have ever spent, I could not recommend higher.

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

No progress yet only been reading and comparing maps from different engines
Only fiddled with the Launch Control with negative outcome on the drag strip so far
Well at least I get a baseline for this tune and any future tunes should give batter time than this
A lot more reading is required to make a good tuneTrack Car: 06 Polo GTI Red Devil mkII

@seangti, this man wants all your cast offs if the silver car comes apart.

Did tie rods and tie rod ends last night. Job made super easy by using this tool that I borrowed from a mechanic mate. Hollow tube fits over the tie rod (once the tie rod end is removed), the nuts do up against the bolt faces and then you put a spanner on the end. too easy when you have the right tools. To get the tie rod off (once the boots and tie rod end removed) and new one on took no more than 5 mins. here are some pics for anyone interested.

Thanks for the info Sean, I'll dig into it
I've done some intensive reading on diesel tuning
Did some tests on the PoD and the results are quite exciting
That's only fiddled with values within very safe regions
Guess I'll find out soon on Wednesday night
Anyone coming to the Perth Motorplex that night?
It's a boost theme night so entry for boosted vehicles is cheap, plus a lot of to fun watch06 Polo TDi

Ordered a silicone intake pipe a few days ago. Really curious to see if it will actually make a difference...

But it run out of puff earlier than others plus I need 4 gear changes so I always ended behind at the finish line

Are any special tools needed to do the tip?

I only have a VNT17:/
Don't think you need special tools to do the TIP, just ratchet and spanners
Maybe a long reach magnet if you have a hobby of dropping things in the engine bay like me06 Polo TDi

Finally have the time to install the TIP on the car
Couldn't get the hose the gose to the MAF to fit at the correct angle because there is an fitting issue with the alloy pipe
To fit the alloy pipe as designed the ASV can't be reinstalled(need to be removed to fit the TIP), so I had to turn it a little bit on the bracket and used the the old plastic pipe to connect the MAf and the alloy pipe
This is how it ended up
Might need to go back to the catch can routing again because the angle of the inlet is changed
Already see some oil seeping around the filler cap
Solved the the boost gauge needle rattling issue with some self tapping screws and vacuum hose joiners
That is 2 extra joiners and 5 screws in place as dampeners, and I already have an inline restrictor near the gauge!!
That turbo pulse is crazy
Also serviced the car while I was at it
Gave it an engine detox and intake decarb as well
I think the really freed up some moving internal parts because now the car is very responsive in low revs
Happy driver again (for now)06 Polo TDi
