Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I drive a mk4 golf but I'm sure we use the same plugs. Stock up!
Even with some discount my local place is close on $4 each for boxes of 10. That's great value

    • Finally got my H&R cup kit installed today. Did the front drivers side last tuesday (thought i'd start with the hardest one first - bit of a mistake ). Did the passenger side on wednesday, and ran out of time untill now to do the rears.

Pretty happy with how it turned out. Surprised at how much difference a bit of a drop makes visually. I thought it'd just be a smidge less wheel gap and some nicer handling, but it looks considerably lower than before. Feels pretty good too.

Shout outs to Gav too for the lend of the tools and all the advice/assistance

      • So after a few years away from cars I picked this up for a bit of weekend fun.

She has Bilstein PSS, APR ecu tune, OZ Racing Ultraleggera and the coolest roof rack and bike carrier!

Have had the clutch done and the flywheel changed to lighter single unit. It's very urgent but issues with crunching going into third and a minor knock, and rattles are to be resolved.

Firm as hell but quite nimble and fun on the twisties

        • Looking good dude! I like the roof racks and the white car/black wheel combo. I want to change my wheels one day, dont really like the denvers

          • Got sick of looking at the boost gauge through the steering wheel. So I watched fast and furious and got inspired.

It still closes for when the police pull me over, not as distracting or ricer and it looks sweet when you push the lid and see boost.

Lol yeah it's more just to do the odd boost check and hide the rice factor.

                  Hey dude,

Did you get the comfort or sport kit?

I've been looking at a set of these and what to know what they're like

Only just saw this. I'm a bit sporadic on here these days.

I got the comfort kit. I'm fairly happy. They lowered a bit without drawing too much attention. The handling definitely improved, but they are also a bit more crashy/bouncy over bumps than stock.

It's hard to review really because my only point of reference is the stock suspension. I don't regret them.

                              • Been doing a lot of reading on engine tuning lately and the deeper I go in the more I realise the tune on my car was so awfully done

So I've decided to make my own tune, it's a really huge subject so I'm taking my time

No progress yet only been reading and comparing maps from different engines

Only fiddled with the Launch Control with negative outcome on the drag strip so far
Well at least I get a baseline for this tune and any future tunes should give batter time than this

A lot more reading is required to make a good tune
