Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Nice to hear from you, Van. Sorry to hear from you in this manner, though.

Yeah, the difference in grip between semi-slicks and any normal tyre is mind boggling. What semi-slicks do you run?
And do you have an LSD or TBD? One of those is on my list for upcoming mods.

                • Given your comments in the disco potato thread, I'd seriously look at a Wavetrac or Peloquin (expensive but feasible, unlike the 4-motion).

Do you (or anyone else) run boost and EGT gauges and if so, are there any to avoid (looking at Auto Meter for boost)?

                  • Changing to a auto meterphantom 35lbs boost guage, should be here this week, as for pyro I happy with my intake temps and the 3" custom exhaust to get the temps out, even after a full throttle blast the intake manifold is cool as.

                    • I was looking at the Z series version of the same gauge (2616) since I also want a 35 psi max reading.

VNT's are more sensitive to high temps so an EGT will be an absolute necessity for me along with the boost gauge.

                          • Nothing worse mate! I've hunted down a few rattles lately myself. The one from the dash was actually one of the little clips in glove-box lid that is meant to hold a pen has loose. No way of tightening it so ripped the little bastard out Now to sort the vibration coming from the fuel pump lid!

                              • I ruined my front brakes (pads and rotors) at Sandown yesterday

Anyone done a big brake upgrade on their non-GTi Polo and have the OE rotors?
