Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

The dyno is unusual as it is load measuring rather than inferring it from acceleration of a heavy drum as done by the Mainline dynos used in the dyno days over the last couple of years (btw when is the next one in Melb??). It produces a slightly different output so I will discuss with the dyno operator (builder) before posting any figures.
But the object was to compare the maps relative to each other and I got what I wanted.
As expected, all 3 remaps give far more torque at all rpm than stock.
The economy map tails off similarly to the stock while the performance and motorsport maps hold torque for longer so they produce more power. Interestingly, the performance and motorsport maps didn't have a very large power difference but the motorsport map produces a little lower peak torque but at higher rpm so it has a bit more power but better over-rev.
I'll be using the perfomance map at Winton today (at least to begin with) as the earlier torque delivery of this map should offset the marginally lower map power vs the motorsport map that I used there last time. At the Island, the over-rev + slightly higher max power is an advantage.
At the dyno day a couple of years ago, Scotty's TDi pulled about 4kW more than mine with his car running the motorsport map and mine running the performance map (both ChippedUK/Viezu). Switching between the 2 maps on Saturday, my car only saw about 1 kW difference so could the difference on that previous dyno day be due to my car being rather new and possibly 'tighter' than Scotty's well run in engine?
I also bedded in my QPF AR1M pads properly today so they are a bit 'bitier' (noticably stronger than stock even when partially bedded in) and the squealing has goneLast edited by kaanage; 11-03-2012, 11:43 PM.Resident grumpy old fart

I was just wondering if anyone is running LED globes in their fog lights or low beams. The reason I ask is that I have been looking at some on eBay, and was curious to know if they worked ok.
Other than the above query, I finally got to wash and detail my car for the first time in 6 weeks after all this rain!! Looks and feels awesome... And I swear it feels perkier too!!"If can't get behind your troops, feel free to stand in front of them..."

I washed my car (no time for detail) the other day also for the first time after all the rain.. I kind of wish I'd actually left it dirty - now all the paint swirls/defects are really obvious

NATSOFT Race Result
Check out that link for a listing of the times from the day! It was a good day, had a blast! Will have some vids up soon.
A lot of the cars that were there were really worked, the only reason I couldn't catch them was because of my skinny ass tyres compared to everyone else (most people were running 235s and up compared to my 205s) and no LSD...I had a go in my mates EP3 Civic Type R...I want an LSD nowLast edited by jasonc23; 13-03-2012, 08:18 AM.
