So this is the engine that was in the car that broke down or the spare sitting in the garage?Originally posted by h100vw View PostWell, it's back in the bay and only one minor crush injury to report

And is it running a K03s or Franken?

Spare motor Clay, the other head got some bent valves and the exhaust cam was wearing out the journals. The bottom end is still good I reckon so still might go back on the road somewhere.Originally posted by team_v View PostSo this is the engine that was in the car that broke down or the spare sitting in the garage?

FT K4T, bigger fuel reg, bigger injectors, anything else?
Everytime you show your new toys I wish I'd asked you to order x2...
It won't be an off the shelf tune, it will be Phase 3 written for the hardware I have fitted. There's a USRT fuel pump, 440s, big MAF from an S3. The fuel reg will stay 3 BAR.
I am going to drop the standard airbox in favour of a BMC CDA I picked up a while back. I have a Deka battery that I am looking to fit very soon.

I haven't done much today, had to go into work right in the middle of the day, which screwed everything up.
I did buy an O ring I needed and a new dipstick tube though.
I have a couple of TIPs floating about, the standard one wouldn't go on the FT. I have a silicon K04 ebay special, this is for an S3 and the pipes are in the wrong places. The FT TIP from Lito's Golf isn't any better unfortunately. So in the interest of getting it on the street soon, I have mated the bottom of a standard S3 TIP with the top of the Polo one.
It's really gash I know but improvise, adapt, overcome is what they taught me in the RAF. So that's what I did.

Nope, did you join them with a straight section of aluminium Troy. Or did the FT one fit over the Polo?Originally posted by vwthunder View PostI am using the Frankenturbo bottom half and a polo top part

Off to look at ebay now.

30km under it's belt now. It seems to have a bit an appetite for water, I reckon it's just airlocks working their way out. It has been bone dry so I don't believe that it's anything sinister.
Had a bit of an issue with a missfire after I first started it. Luckily as a pulled the plugs out to do a compression test, I spotted that there was no gap on one of the plugs. Open it back up and she ran like a dream.

It's making massive boost, well over 25 PSI which I will address in the morning, by dropping the actuator pressure. Of course it needs a full tune, injectors, MAF and fuel pump to sort properly. Just glad to have it running and not making any horrible noises so far.
