Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Im kind of bored with my current power level
Still really chuffed that it is back on the road though.
Going to turn down the actuator shortly.

Unless you have got into dent repair as well? LOL Plus a bit of painting.
Backed off the actuator this morning, now down to 5PSI although it creeps a bit if you rev it out. Reconnected the N75 and it now goes just over 25PSI. There's a few threads left on the rod so I'll take it right to the end. This will do until I get a TIP solution I am happy with. This is the thing that it stopping me launching into going Phase3 on it straight away.
Nearly 50km up now and the water consumption has stopped. I guess the air has made its way out now. No drips on the garage floor, that's a result.
Overall, apart from squishing a finger in the engine mount, it's been a pretty painless experience. Obviously, would have been easier for me to just chuck the rods in and swap over a head. I just needed a good reason to get started on it. The belt quitting wasn't what I had in mind. The original head wasn't sacrificed really, as the cam was trying to wear it's way out.

Been off work a few days this week. Not been really busy with the car though, kids on holidays. I bought a DEKA battery for Greg Roles a few months ago, knowing that a decent airfilter needs the battery shrinking to fit.
I also picked up a BMC CDA last year sometime as well.
So yesterday morning I set to and pulled the standard battery out and fitted the DEKA. A simple aluminium strap over the top. I bought some brass post terminals off ebay and an 18 inch earth cable from supercheap. Although I recovered it in black heatshrink.
A quick cable tie to hold the fuse block and job done.
Then this afternoon I fired in the CDA.
I'll probably redo the airfeed into the space behind the passenger foglight.
Went for a quick thrash up the road and when I did a u turn to come back it stopped boosting. WTF. It's making about 2 PSI...
No fault codes, MAF output seems ok. I can hear the turbo whistle so I am sure it's not seized up or anything mad like that. I have wound the actuator right back but it was working on the way out. Maybe the nut fell off during the U turn? So the wastegate is now wide open.
Couldn't do anything else as jboogie was coming round.Last edited by h100vw; 12-04-2013, 08:32 PM.
