Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Just a quick one, having not done anything apart from buy some Penrite running in oil and synthetic for afterwards in the 20% off at Supercheap on Saturday. I am off in the garage in 10 minutes to blitz the engine back together.
I'll be gapping rings, fitting them to the pistons. Then assembling the bottom end. Dropping on the head, manual tensioner conversion, new water pump and racing belt. Swapping over filter mount from the old bottom end. A few other brackets and stuff too.
Still waiting on the clutch, which has been in Australia since Thursday night due to Easter.
Pictures later

Otherwise you could have had it all up and running by the end of the weekend.

I have the exhaust manifold on and I am fitting the FT, need to get some new bolts though. I noticed that one stud has stretched and another looks to be going the same way.

Good to see this is functional for the bjx, as we know the tensioner and Hyd damper is part numbered specifically for it , most likely due to the mount, Vw original kits don't list the bjx and it was always a bit of a pain. This kit just for the 1.8 t cross the board? Mind U thinking yes as the position is different with the manual and no damper. Back to old school really hey 90degrees on the belt we back to mk 1 days , and nothing wrong with that . Might treat the AGU to that, I got an order going in with integrated soon.
Cheers

There's a 058 and 06A kits. They can do just the basic delete or with the spacer, with the std belt, with the racing belt, with a waterpump etc.
Not sure about that bottom end yet Jesse. If you wanted to build one up, then I'd take yours afterwards. Need to talk engine cranes, how are you fixed in the morning for a pick up?

Cool, not sure u want to be tweaking a used belt though . Yeah must be the orientation coz the AGU and bjx are both 06a blocks, but bjx mount on block is different , cool that this works though .Alba European
