Is your car tuned?? If not, stock boost is about 6 or 7 PSI. Tuned, I have seen mine holding 21 PSI in 5th with an outside air temp of -2 degrees C.

You need to check the boost while pulling up a hill really. In 3rd or 4th if you can. Start about 2000 revs and run it up close to the red line.

In 1st and 2nd the engine will gobble up boost, as fast as the turbo makes it. In 3rd the turbo gets a chance to get ahead of the engine. Especially on a hill to slow down the acceleration.

Looking with VCDS is better still, your boost gauge may not be very well calibrated.

ChipTuning is a proven product that is backed by great customer service and reputation, along with APR, GIAC, REVO, and Custom Code... Or you could jump on eBay and likely get something that is unproven, or worse, do damage to your engine... At the very least, look here in Australia for a tune before you risk things on eBay.

Even though there are alot of VAG cars that use 1.8 Turbo engines, there are a lot of different engine codes, power outputs, and internals associated with the engine between the cars, so if you see 'will suit 1.8T', don't automatically assume that that particular part will automatically fit or suit the Polo GTI...
