got a full milltek exhaust, 2.5" all the way, more than enough, you need more if you go +300Hp.
after a remap you notice you can get more Hp from it.
all upgrades don't make that much diffrence on stock engine, once mapped it's another story.

things that are restrictive on a Polo GTI:

intake pipe: don't make much diffrence but it will be better (use a seat one if you still have stock airbox)

Downpipe & CAT: every catalysator is restrictive (get a sportcat or none at all)

Turbo intake pipe: stock one has a 90° turn where it's going to the turbo, at this turn it's reduced in size (get a Forge one)

Throtlle body pipe: on LHD cars VW installed a "sound pipe", pretty much useless wich mess up the flow. (Forge needed)

Intercooler: stock one is to small and sits in a bad place, pretty much anything is better (i prefer seat sport with Forge piping)

software: get it mapped because stock a polo makes only 0.6bar at his best (best = custom tune)

fuell pressure regulator: when you do all the above and get it mapped you will need a 4bar one, stock one can't give enough (TT225 & Cupra R)

if you want i can post pictures of all the restrictive things, when i changed them i took those pictures.
odd to see the stock Turbo TIP next to one from Forge, or dowpipe next to milltek one, clearly see diffrence in size in all the things.

@VWindahouse: no, i diddn't search after this because i still have the standard MAF.
but i do believe the TIP from Frankenturbo is made to fit 3" maf.
if you want i can ask my mate, he has 3" maf so maybe he knows brands that have a TIP that will fit.

if i may ask, why are you getting 3" maf?
      planning Big Turbo upgrade:p

Yeah unfortunately vwthunder said the TIP he got from Franken is not a direct fit and he ended up having to cut it up along with the forge tip to franken up his own!

And to answer your question about the bigger turbo I must admit after reading all your real world info is mighty tempting mate! Keep it coming.

What hoses you referring to? Turbo intake pipe (forge), tune and diverter valve (forge) has worked a treat on my car. Looking into the air intake (e.g. seat). Let us know which hoses you're referring to mate and someone can be more specific in a response.

The diverter valve (isn't a hose) controls boost. I've only got a basic understanding of it. The standard one is plastic and only holds boost sufficiently for a standard tune, as the boost is increased when the car is tunes, the standard diverter valves leaks boost and ultimately fails - loost boost = lost power. Also from what I've read, the results from the various manufacturers differs, so a forge DV provides a different engine response/feel to other products.

this is just a boost controller right??

The diverter valve is there to stop the air backing up behind the throttle plate, when you shut the throttle between changes. If you didn't have it, the build up of pressure would slow down the turbo. When you opened the throttle again, the boost would take time to build up.
The constant slowing and speeding up wouldn't be good for the turbo in the long term.
VW use another valve, the N75 to control boost. This controls the wastegate and hence boost.
A blown std DV will allow pressurised air back into the inlet, reducing overall boost.

There are a few different N75 options, you could use a MBC or EBC instead, but less sophisticated or require sensors, etc and may interfere with the cars programming.

There are thousands of threads on the 1.8T engine on Vortex and other forums. Have a read.
