  • Front mount options?

Hey guys, just starting to look at some options for a front mount, i know forge has a decent set up but is there anything for a replacement that or another alternative to get that extra cooling and power??

Forge or APR, or you could always have a custom one made ?

Perhaps but not essential. PWR may have a core that'd suit, than to sort out piping. From what I recall, the forge kit comes with a reinforcement bar for the front bumper as some of it will need to be cut to fit the piping. Might be worth bearing in mind, or at least researching. I just had a look on the Forge site and couldn't see that they have a front mount for it... but I know they do.

I've ordered a Forge one a few weeks ago. 5 week wait from date of order. Cost about $1100 shipped.

I ordered a Forge one about a 1.5 months ago, i think it was around 900-950 landed from DPM performance.

Haven't experienced any boost loss or anything like that and intake temps have decreased massively.

With the stock SMIC, intake temps would reach 70 degrees+ under boost. With the Forge FMIC, on a 10 degree night in Melbourne, the intake temp remain stable at 15 degrees and doesn't even move after 3-4 full throttle runs through 3rd gear (according to my scangauge). Car pulls a lot harder through the midrange and up top as well!

I believe the seat sport intercooler is also a suitable upgrade for performance.

Instigator on our forums has done it.

yes, as Team V said, i have the seat sport FMIC with a piping kit forge has developed for this IC.
the stock pipes are rubbish and verry restrictive in flow, so don't take the piping from seat.
IC itself has a verry good flow, even up to 300Hp easy. (i've seen 350Hp without any problems)
its practicly bolt on and you will be sure you have something worth youre money.
                      heatsoak is eliminated completly.
power gains will be immense after chiptuning the car (thats with most IC)
it won't make much on a stock car, but heatsoak is gone.
my polo now runs 1.5bar, and it never backs down, not even a litlle bit.
it keeps its power verry constant, and this is the purpose of a good IC.

i know the APR one is good also but expensive.
good for stage II, if you want more you need another one.
the IC kit from forge... i would not recomend it.
just good for a stock car for elliminating heatsoak.
and i've seen results of this IC on a stock car making less power as before.

                      but it's up to you.
most people just get a IC without knowing the capacity.
my opinion is, if you want good strong power, you need a good flowing intercooler to go with it.
otherwise it's useless you do the upgrade and you will be loosing power after a few runs.
and this is not what you want.

                      hope it helps, good luck

I looked at a few options before buying my Forge unit, i think the SEAT part is 6LL145804.

I think its way too big for even a tuned 1.8T unless youre running a bigger turbo. It would cover most of the radiator and i dont like that come summertime 40 degree days ...

I been reading threads like this for a while. Has anyone in Australia got the Seat intercooler? The information that people give about the forge varies dramatically. Some say good others say differently. The one thing that i get back from all of this is that the APR is the most expensive but thats the only negative thing about it. So when it comes time to get mine (which will be before summer) i think i may just have to bite the bullet and get the APR. The Seat was going to be my first choice because it looks truely bad ass but without Australian reviews im not too keen on getting one.
