I'll have to reread the bulletin but im 90% sure all the repairs are done at once, shouldn't be doing the breathers(easy) and then injectors after(involves work). This is kinda showing that the dealers are abit half-arsed.
Snail Style, you've said that the new squirters have bigger bores. In my mind, they should be squirting out more oil, leading to higher consumption... Unless more oil keeps the pistons cooler, leading to less burn off?
Or is there another factor(s) involved? Care to speculate?

    • That's right more oil = cooler piston and lubricated bore. It's not spraying into the chamber itself but underneath.

Ok so i also double checked. Bulletin is 2025520 and all work(breathers, ecu update and injectors) are all done at the same time. Only time injectors aren't req is for late model CTH engines, however the bulletin doesn't apply for those vehicles.
So as i thought, dealers are being half-assed in alot of cases.

      • Well then, that settles it, I think. I should get this done. Time to make an appointment with the dealer and see if they will provide the fix out of warranty...

Won't be easy because they claimed that my car had already been fixed. I asked them to document that I was incredulous, but don't think they bothered. Will see how much goodwill is on offer!
        Thanks Snail Style.

Truth is, it's probably laziness with a good dose of complacency and ignorance. The older I get, the less I want to do....
Ignorance would be 90% of it.....Hey, I purchased a new car, no more worries. You get what I mean.
In my defense (not really ) since both issues, I do get under the hood more frequently.
The water has only ever dropped about a cm and the oil has barely moved a couple of mm's.

If the oil consumption is falling into the specified limits, a tiny 500ml/1000km(LOL), then they will not offer any goodwill/repairs. However if you somehow failed the test then they would have to fix it technically as a repeat repair.

            • My oil consumption tests have always been borderline. On one occasion they were particularly meticulous, and found that my car used over 600 ml per 1000km. They have performed all of the supposed fixes so far.

The one catch is that at the last oil consumption test they told me they found the car used only 100 ml which was clearly not true. That was just before the warranty ran out.

              Anyway, can't hurt to ask!

              • Aslong as there is a history of the issue recorded, then VW will come to the party and cover costs. Otherwise you will be able to hit them through ACCC.

                  • That's not bad but I guess it could still be better. I would assume all engine have a degree of oil consumption (even mine looses oil ~500ml in a 15,000 service period - 1.2tsi) it looses more in colder weather, so letting it warm up first is a must.

                      • I was sitting at around 220ml per 1000km before the first service. I'm 4000km past that now and it's dropped to 120ml per 1000km.

                        • 2000ks done since oil squirters done.
Oil level has not moved on dip stick.
Exhaust tips staying cleaner for a lot longer.
Car is now how it should have been 2 years ago.

                          • Hi All ,

I have Polo GTI 2013 with CTH engine. (26000 km ) Oil usage was 1lt for each 3000km when I was using castrol 5-30. Then I changed oil with mobil 1 ESP 5-30 and oil consumption increased to 1lt for 2000 km . Last oil warning come up at 1600 km and I decided to visit VW for that. I will do that this week but this is first time I heard about oil jet upgrade. To be honest even did not know about such a part of engine. So is there anyone at this forum with oil jet upgrade but still have oil problem ? I am writing from Turkey and I am not sure that VW Turkey is aware of that or not .

                            Regards

                            • Is it still under warranty?
Go to the dealer and follow their process, in Australia we have to do a consumption test, (over 500ml per 1000kms) then breather mod, then another C Test, then oil squirters.
No person appears to have oil consumption after the Oil Squirters have been done.
