Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Polo GTI High Oil Usage - Discussion Thread

This is a sticky topic.

Wife's GTI failed oil consumption test about 4 weeks ago, 700ml per 1000ks.
Had new oil jets fitted, to reduce amount of oil sprayed underneath pistons.
Have not checked oil level yet but, I have noticed the exhaust tips are still clean after its wash last week, they would be black after about a 15km drive, looks promising, fingers crossed
Will keep you posted

Same here, clean the exhaust tip & I can still see the silver bit after a few drive.
However, having said that I can still see little black spot across the back (after cleaning yesterday / white car)
It's a lot less then before, but it's still there... will have to raise the issue when the car go back in for the 1000km checkup.

So has anyone not had success with the new oil jets fitted? Is it possible this is the solution this thread has been looking for.
My replacement engine hasn't had its oil level move after about 3000km so I wonder if they had updated the parts for the replacement engine...

Give it time, POW. I've been lulled into a false sense of security after every supposed fix, so far.

Ha, ha! Oil starvation!
But seriously, can anyone comment: if keeping the pistons cool with oil is a good idea, can reducing the amount of cooling, by reducing the oil squirted, could that maybe be less healthy for the engine? I would consider putting up with the oil consumption, and NOT changing the oil squirters, if that was the case. But I ain't no expert. Would love someone knowledgeable to comment. Cheers.

I've just done 1000km & I've been back to the dealership. Apparently it's now 200ml/1000km.
I'm not sure it that's even accurate, cause they did the "check up" in like 5mins... probably just enough time to check the dipstick...lol
But by my visual observation -
- dipstick is showing little to no use of oil
- less visible black spot on the back, they're tiny tiny black spots now that's only visible when I run my fingers across the hatch.
