  • Wheels are still not on the car!

The Bridgestone place that fitted the tyres couldn't find any stud bolts or hub rings to fit... so I picked up the wheels and took them to another wheel place to get the parts machined up.

Moral of the story is if you're going to buy OZ Racing wheels then make sure they come with the fitting kit!

Hopefully they will be on the car by next weekend.

+1 on that. Still waiting on the hub rings to get machined up. I think the wheel place are sick of me calling...

        • Still no news on the hub rings, however I did hear some good news today that the VAR Tig exhaust systems should be landing very shortly.

Hoping for some nice DSG farts...

That is the cat-back version right?
            Should be interesting to hear.

Can you please get some stock cat-back and var cat back videos for comparison?

            Shame about the hub rings.
I made sure when i got my enkeis that the guy packed hub rings suitable, otherwise i would have waited an age to get them fitted.

Yes cat-back version. Will replace the stock exhaust. I already have a 3" DP fitted which drops down t 2.5" at the back if I remember right.

Yes I'll look to get some before/after for comparison. There will be very little performance change - purely aural

The main hold-up is that the wheel workshop's usual machinist is on holidays and they only have a guy that comes in occasionally to help out - though I use this term loosely as it's been more than a week now...

Problem is they aren't standard hub rings either as there is a groove in the rim for them to locate. Otherwise I could have got some off the shelf. I spoke to the Oz Racing importer and he said he could get some in however they would only be with his next shipment which could be a couple of months so getting them machined locally is still going to be quicker.

Yes so moral of the story is to make sure you get the hub rings and stud bolts with the wheels.

You can purchase suitable hub rings and bolts from here if you are having issues finding a source: Performance Alloys.com® - Alloy Wheels - The Alloy Wheel Experts™

This is where i ordered my Ultralegerras from and they supplied everything. I contacted them earlier in the year as i was going to put the rims on a Merc A250 and they could supply OZ hub rings to suit, they aren't cheap though.

                    • Well after chasing around all week trying to source a mounting kit for the OZ Racing wheels it turns out the guys from AMG Australia (distributors for OZ Racing) are placing an order for some other gear and I can get a set through them shipped to the door for $80. Everywhere else I was looking at $150+.

                          • Tig's getting a brake upgrade today - purely cosmetic but wanted to get the calipers painted before the new wheels go on.
