Last time I was in NSW I'm sure they spoke English (mostly) there and most cars (if not all) had their steering wheels on the OTHER side of the car .......
Lol Sharkie !! You just made my day .. Probably Brad is just waking up ...
The guy clearly wasn't using LC in the Tig.... and no guarantees that the Kia wasn't chipped either. We don't get the turbo Kia here either so you really can't compare these cars in terms of what is available locally.
Top of my list at the moment is either a MY15 130TDI R-line or a base model MY16(?)162TSI Tiguan... just depending on when the update is going to arrive.
Have you actually got confirmation the 130TDI is coming out here.
I haven't seen or heard anything about it other than in the Audi Q3/5.

Didn't even notice the steering wheels
As for the language - probably 50% of the talking I hear in a day isn't English. They don't make migrants like they used to and Sydney is full of migrants.
When my family came from Sicily they stopped speaking dialect within a few years - wanted to be Aussies and speaking like them was the easiest way to assimilate (and get jobs). Luckily they kept cooking Italian food.
carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums

I don't have written confirmation from VWA, however I have some pretty strong evidence that it will be coming.
First it has gone through approvals process. Second I have on fairly good authority that (without direct confirmation) a 130TDI would be an "improvement to the range" and that VW will be "improving" the Tiguan range. So take that as what you wish, however I'm 90% sure that we will see the 130TDI come here in MY15.
Finally found a solution to your dilemma .. KIA Sportage (this can keep up with stage 2 Tig without any mods )
Guys the NA Sportage is off the list. If they brought the turbo version here I may have to reconsider, however I wouldn't want to pay more than $30k for a Korean car (due to resale taking a hammering)... and some of these are getting over $50k new (2014 Kia Sportage SL Platinum MY14 Sports Automatic AWD)
Very true. I looked at an IX35 before I bought the Tig and a top spec one was over $50k (and lost rear headroom over the cheaper models because of a standard panoramic sunroof). I couldn't see the build quality in a Hyundai costing that much, although I was quite impressed in how much they have improved over the last 5-6 years; it won't be long before they have near identical build quality to a Euro car.
MY08 Mk5 GT Sport - sold MY14 Tiguan 118TSI - sold (Mazda3 SP25GT in its place) MY16 Golf 7R: sold (Caterham Super 7 and Hyundai i30N in its place)
I made it to the end! Took a week of reading. What a journey. thanks for sharing. I was so sad when you were looking at other models. I felt cheated in some way.. like a movie with a crappy ending. All those mods then... BAM gone! glad youre holding onto it a little longer!
all the comments about the wife approval made me laugh! my poor future husband will have to put up with my demanding for a zippy car! Id never considered wagons a hearse before. but she is right. hahahaa. Id still buy one tho.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the read. Yes it has been quite a journey over the past 3 years. A number of the mods/projects I undertook there wasn't a good guide so I ended up documenting what I'd done so that people looking to do something similar had something that they could refer to.

Yes it is a bit sad really. There's been a fair bit of time, money and effort that has gone into it. However at the end of the day it is a depreciating asset and it has (almost) got to the point where the value has been depreciated and I have the choice of paying more tax or buying a new car..... and as I don't like paying more tax and like buying/driving nice new cars I'll choose the new car
The Tig will be my wife's car, so it will stay at home for a good few more year still. I'll likely take a few of the more "boy racer" mods off (like the exhaust), however she wants to keep the new tips
There's a couple more smaller bits I'll add on (while I can write the mods off on tax), however it will be getting upgraded sometime in the next 12 months.

Yes well it has to meet the wife and 3 kids test otherwise it doesn't get on the list.
Well after making the decision to keep the Tig for a bit longer, there's still time for a few more mods
Just a little one - I added some bag hooks to the boot. Probably should have done this one 3 years ago but better late than never.
I bought both the brackets (2 x Part# 3C98671602ZZ) and the bolts (2 x Item#N0200005) but when I went to do the install I found that I could re-use the existing bolts so now I have a couple of spare bolts
Oh well I guess they only cost a couple of $ - better to have them and not need them than the other way around.
It's the same part on the left and right side. Install took 5 minutes. One side had a cracked housing which made it a bit harder to remove.
I have them from the factory, looks like another difference between mk1 and mk2.
The 125/132TSI gets the plastic covers and the 147/155TSI gets the chrome bag hooks. Crazy thing is that the cost difference is probably not that much especially when you factor in the extra tooling, engineering, parts inventory, production line complexity, etc.
The one thing it does do us give some model differentiation but who would have thought that someone would pay the extra $7k to upgrade from the base model for a couple of $38 bag hooks.
I have missed bag hooks (had them in previous cars). I generally put a single bag of shopping in the rear footwell to stop it sliding around but now I have some nice shiny new bag hooks to use instead
My 09 125TSI had them from the factory ........ Luck of the draw I suppose

Minor maintenace interval today - changed the oil, filter and sump plug.
Is it just me or does the engine seem to run smoother with fresh oil?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Haha.. Yes I change my Tig's engine oil every 7500 km with Motul Specific oil and every time I feel car runs smooth after oil change. It even runs better when I washed it too . My motto is love your car and it will love you right back
Anyway I think if you change oil like 15000 k and car is bit older, you may feel a bigger difference.
