ahh damn, thought you might have been onto some sweet price deal haha. You've just looked at the zorst for a GTI instead of a golf R. The golf R is $2200 for the same, cat back system. So ridiculous that the golf R system is more than double the price of the GTI system (both with varex valved mufflers)

I am going to do this mod in my 180KM
Please guys confirm my summary of this topic :
1. Golf 7R exhaust is louder even with valves closed
2. Valves not connected are closed
3. Can we get Dsg fart on upshift like in GTi or R?
4. It is possible to connect and make valves works?
Or maybe resonator delete is better mod to get some noise or/ and farts?
I've found something on Russian tiguan forum. It's possible to steer the valve, but analog Mode. Google translator needed

Exhaust valves open make it load, with no valves they will be open all the time.
With aftermarket downpipe and CAT get plenty of DSG farts.
Yes theres an aftermarket controller for the valves, but its quite expensive.
Res delete does nothing really, aftermarket downpipe removes the res.Tiguan Gen2 162TSI Etuners IS38 Stage 3 238.6 kw@4 wheels

I've had someone actually compliment the sound of the car after a res delete, but I think that was just due to him not expecting anything.

I've fit S3 exhaust which is similar to mk7 R.
No res and cat, valves open setup is just absolutely fine for me.
In a week local electronics shop will have necessary parts to make controller for valves. I will make it just to complete exhaust story, because I am satisfied already
After replacing full 76 custom exhaust, performance wasn't influenced. Same 11.3 sec 100-200Tiguan APR is38 98
Catless non-resonated downpipe, Wagner intercooler, REVO inlet hose, h&r springs

There's no resonator at all, infact that gets removed when you have a down pipe fitted due to it's placement.
I got the tick of approval from the wife. Says it sounds a bit boy racery but not obnoxious.
The R muffler is louder because it's higher flowing than the stock one. Closing off vavles will keep it quieter, but it's too nice not to hear it.
The damn thing even burbles on slow downshifts!
If your just fitting an R muffler to the stock down pipe don't worry about loudness, it's actually quite a nice sound, even with the resonator removed. I heard one in person when I picked up the muffler.
You'll definitely get upshift farts like a stock Golf R.

There was one going in Melbourne the other day.
Just look for anyone wrecking a Mk7 Golf R. They do come up reasonably regularly.
The other place to go is ring around the VW tuner shops as they often have a couple sitting out the back that have come off customers cars when they upgrade the exhaust.

Valves have to be open to feel difference to stock 132kw version
I tried without end muffler and there is not much difference. I think the main silencer is the resonator.

If you took your rear muffler off and noticed no difference, either the 132tsi muffler is totally different to the 162tsi or the 132tsi has additional mufflers / resonators.Tiguan Gen2 162TSI Etuners IS38 Stage 3 238.6 kw@4 wheels
