  • Finally had the mk 7.5 R rear muffler and tips installed with eres delete and love the sound.

Thanks to everyone before me for posting their experiences.

My muffler didn’t come with the motors so I have left the valves open. Does anyone know what the part numbers are?

I just for the same setup to install still, no motors came on my valves.
So do they stay open by default?
Also don't the valves get cut out when the tips are extended?

      • HOLY COW! got a Mk7.5 Golf R rear exhaust fitted up today by Men at Work Exhausts in Brisbane (very well done and reasonably priced for the quality work - the welds are very good!) - whole thing done for less than $600. Left the stock resonator and the Mk7.5 R exhaust has the valves open. Also have a Stage 1 APR tune.

I can't believe the difference - it just sounds like a slightly quieter GolfR but still has the similar exhaust note and tone, plus a slight but not to loud fart on the DGG change under load. looks pretty good as well.

my recommendation for ALL 162KW owners - get APR Stg1 and Mk7.5 exhaust - I am looking for excuses now to drive the car Why the Fu@k VW didn't ship it like this I have no idea.. probably to noisy and fast for soccer mums.

          • Just did a res delete - so far there’s no discernible difference. There’s a quiet but deep grumble on mild acceleration in D, but haven’t had the chance to try it in Sport. Unless you’re listening out for it, I don’t think you’d notice a difference.

            • Yeh, not much difference in D. Get it into S and you'll get a bit more pops and some burbles sometimes.

After a few weeks I feel the noise dies down a bit at least it feels like it when you're inside the car. I've got feedback from a few people saying that the car sounds pretty good from outside.

You’re completely right - S or even eco is a substantial difference!

                  • Does the MK7/7.5 R exhaust work with a 110TSI Allspace?

Noticed majority of the swaps are 162 owners.

                    • I am pretty sure The diameter of the exhaust on a 110tsi is 2” and the golf r is 2.5”

                          • Anyone have stock VS "Res delete + Open Golf R valves" audio comparison?
I'm still dreaming about the AWE tuning switchpath remote as I have the Golf R 7.0 exhaust which is where the valves are closed in the stock position.

Missed out on the Black Friday sale, no sale for Boxing Day so was not able to talk myself into buying it.

                            • Look up for APR switch, here they sell it for 420 or something, I got mine from US for 290 plus shipping, however you need American drop shipping company, they won't send it to OZ directly. Reckon APR is pretty cool, will post once I install it.
At the moment I have valves open (removed actuators and spot welded a small metal piece to keep them open).

I found if you master acceleration and make DSG change gears at about 4.5 to 5.5k rpm it you can hear pops very clearly, S mode is even better.

                              • Btw, I uploaded a quick vid of a cold start here: YouTube if anyone is interested. Could be useful for those contemplating on doing the exhaust mod.

Tiguan 162TSI, Stage 1 with Leyo intake
Golf R muffler with res delete, closed valves.
