    • Hi, has anyone done this but kept the original chrome trim, had the idea that you could just hollow out the black trim for the exhaust pipes in the middle and keep the chrome trim intact?

I kinda like the look of the chrome trim at the back.

I've retained the chrome trim (but had it dipped in carbon fibre). I was thinking of hollowing out the inner black trim but recently decided to punch out the exhaust trim and put the golf R tips on.
I went down the path of preserving my res, retrofitting the golf R muffler and deleting the valves (on the golf R exhaust).

How does it sound compared to stock exhaust?

Do you have a picture of how it looked before you changed it?

            • Do you guys reckon the muffler out of the Skoda Kodiak RS would be a straight swap into an Allspace??
Is it bi-modal like the R exhaust?

              • Instant satisfaction at the press of a button. Presenting the AWE SwitchPath™ Remote: Open and close exhaust valves with the push of a button from inside the cabin at any time From quiet to aggressive with the tap of a button Compact design perfect for a keychain or cup holder Comes as a set of two remotes with wiring

Apologies if this has been linked before, but for those with the Golf R exhaust, would this remote serve as an effective retrofit to get the valves operable (albeit manual)?

Yeah the Switchpath has been the go to for controlling factory valves!

Its $250 approx. But fitting it is the question as they have to pull power and ground To It for it to work.

Hey guys, following earlier comments on this thread, I fitted the MK7.5 Golf R Muffler to my MY18 Tiguan about 3 months ago with an AWE Switchpath Remote.

We simply angled the tips down (rather than removing the trim) but retained the OEM valves... The hangers are exactly the same, but there is some cutting & extra pipe work required to fit - need to remove the golf resonator which is further back than the Tiguan and fabricate a length to the existing system.

The AWE Switchpath is easy to install too (plug & play), just need to cut off the power connector and wire positive/neutral to the boot accessory socket. Works great to open/close instantly when you want more sound or to keep the wife/neighbours happy early morning!

I’ve got the APR Stage 2 with Down Pipe, so found the system had a lot of “rasp” without being muffled, so we installed a 3” Stainless Resonator directly into the down pipe - this made it far more enjoyable and sounds even better as the system carbons up too!

Valves closed, its subtle without any drone and valves open its deep, loud & sporty... Easily switchable depending on mood and both have a great DSG soundtrack too!

Happy to answer any questions! Cheers! [emoji6]

                        • Interested to see some pics with the position of the resonator. Also details on the resonator if you have it. I have a Mk7 muffler in the shed which I'll fit in the next couple of months, however interested to find out what difference there is between the 7.5 and the 7. I thought there was just a slightly different width in the tips.

                            Thanks for the info guys!

Azza83, did you have to buy one or two sets of the Switchpath devices? ie. does one device connect to both valve controllers?

How much did it cost to get the mk7 muffler and switchpath installed? Defo doing this.

The resonator we used was a Stainless 12” long Lukey Performance, clearance was an issue fitting anything bigger without redesigning - didn’t want to cut the DP but was the only option. No major differences we were aware, the MK7.5 just became available first.

Just the one Switchpath - the harness connects to both valve controllers and was very easy install.

The muffler was from a brand new MK7.5 Golf R, installed for $600, the Switchpath was $380 (Online from Mode Auto Concepts - DIY Install) and the Resonator was $220 installed. All in for $1200.

                                Well worth the exercise!
